Boy you left-coasters are sure fortunate having CVI - planning on a trip out this summer to have them spruce up the Deli. This turbo fix is now on the list along with the famous tune-up and once over.

Just curious,

When you say "Turbocharger overhaul", do you mean you're replacing worn out parts like bearings and seals or just cleaning the turbo? 'Cause if you're doing a full overhaul that's a real good price and I'll have to start saving money! :-D

I would imagine some stuff gets replaced to be able to stop the oil leak?

Hi De i'ca...(",)

We do a complete teardown of the turbo, check for bearing condition and replace it if necessary. Carbon seals and housing where it seats are all sonically cleaned together with the master assembly housing, turbine and compressor wheel. All seals are replaced. As this components spin at around 85,000rpm at full load, it is a very delicate engineering piece of art.

As we have encountered a number of manifold gasket failures in the past, we have taken the necessary step to take care of this problem by replacing the old gasket to the new metal gasket from Mitsubishi OEM Parts. And while we're at it, we sonically clean the EGR valve too as they have been known to fail as well. These takes care of the Preventive Maintenance work needed on this side of the engine to perform at its best without worrying about this things failing in the future. Peace of mind and knowing that all is well on the power plant makes driving our delicas more enjoyable.

lol! I can almost hear Maceio!

That's really good to know everything is taken care of.

If your turbo is leaking than it's pretty obvious it needs attention but doesn't mean it's shut. They can still leak and work great but I guess it's just a matter of time. On some like mine the turbo doesn't leak at all but I still checked it out recently to make sure the bearings were still decent. I took the front rubber hose out of the way and grabbed the nose of the turbine. On a good turbo there should be hardly any noticeable play if trying to move side to side. I had more play than expected. :-(

But any better way to tell if your turbo could use a face lift?
