Complete Delica Injection Pump rebuild from top to bottom

Post by jrman »

Just had the IP rebuilt through Mardy.

Very happy with the result.
Mine was not smoking, but was just starting to leak and I suspected it wasn't giving full performance (have not driven any other deli for comparison).

Just got it back yesterday so it's a preliminary report really, but happy to say I noticed an immediate performance improvement. Better pickup off the line, pulls better up the smaller hills located around my home. And the big test - I hit the cut in Nvan tonight, started at 80km at the bottom - slowly she dropped to 75km but was able to hold that speed solidly all the way to the top in 3rd gear - previously she would continue to slowly lose speed all the way up till about 60kmh at the top before gaining speed again.

Idle seems to move around a bit more than before - was rock steady at 750 under all conditions - will be watching this and adjusting as necessary.

Not sure about mileage yet, but I was only getting about 6.7 Km to the litre before (roughly 400km to a 60L fill) so hope I see an improvement.

Cheers.

Oh, I think my motor mounts are ok, but the tranny mounts look quite cracked but not sure if they are trashed or not.
Any recommendations how to test?

My deli vibrates but I just don't know what is normal and what is not.

Any thoughts where to have done and who would have the tranny mounts in stock?

I've got to go back to RJD for the rear axle seal again so will ask them also & post accordingly - but would appreciate opinions.

Hey gang,
I had a leaky pump but I didn't want to have my car off the road for as many days as it was going to take to get my pump rebuilt, so I just bought a rebuilt pump from Glen ( Coombs Country Auto ) . So now I have a rebuilt pump in my car and a none rebuilt pump in my shop. It would be nice to get some value back out of that pump so if anyone needs a none-rebuilt pump, I'm open to suggestions.

BTW, The new pump works great but it didn't stop the vibration at idle. Changing the motor mounts did that and WOW what a difference.

Brett,

was that just the motor mounts , or motor and tranny ?

Hi Golf Cart,
I just changed the motor mounts and the effect was dramatic. Even my wife noticed the difference! Now if only I could do that when she gets her hair done.

Hey jrman, my post here http://www.delica.ca/forum/is-this-the- ... -2722.html might help you. Obviously you managed to get back home safely :-D
PS. There are also 2 smaller tranny mounts but they are not available separately and I found paying $300 for the assembly with a bar being rediculous, so I left them alone.

Hey tks Sergiy - sorry I missed you guys on Saturday. Saw only one L300 on this trip - they are definitely running short over in Japan, I used to see soooo many even just a short time ago. Catch you guys next time.
Cheers.
