Always keep in mind that were in B.C., finding a secluded large spot for a meet is fairly easy. There are thousands of forestry roads that branch for ever in all types of off-roading levels, and tonz of turn around that could fit a bunch of delica'z. Its just a matter of what kinds of things people want to see and where they want to traveling too.

Even though I live in Banff, I agree. North of Golden or Revelstoke has potential as well as a central location halfway between the coast and Southern ALberta.

North of Golden? Why not Golden? How about Golden Eco Ranch http://www.goldenadventurepark.com/ Just an idea but that's because I'll be there most of July on vacation. Great place for a holiday or a meet.

Wow, just picked up my Delica yesterday - can't wait to plan some trips!!! I'll keep reviewing the plans here - will be in the Shuswap area mid August onward so could trip over to Golden or other areas. Wanted to respond as a westy coasty rep,
Cheers, K

To Jasper? if so, We live on the yellowhead highway 5k past Vavenby. With lots of camping space in seperate places within the 137 acres. If the tour would like to stop in as friends who promise not to sue even if they roll their Delly's on our mountainous property or fall off their roof rack in a drunken half nude stupor. then all are welcome. you can also reach me at 250-674-7674 if you need to. Vavenby is 20 minutes north of Clearwater with a huge selction of daytripping off roads. Rarely online our first year living off the grid has had its many many difficulties. with no cell service other than in Clearwater it does take sometime for a reply. Ross P.s. we will more than likely continue on with the tour, username is a friend in little fort 40 mins south who might join the delvoy too.

I think Vavenby is a good choice. 137 acres with free camping is not something to sniff at.

As a Park Warden, I would suggest that it would be a good thing to avoid a National Park, but be close enough to one to get there and enjoy it if you are prepared to walk more than 1,000 meters past the parking lot, and not drive. Vavenby would offer access to Jasper, and even better, a hike to Mt. Robson and Berg Lake. The other Park that would be nice to be close to would be Glacier in Rogers Pass.

For the West Coasties, it makes no difference to them if they turn North at Kamloops, or go straight to Revelstoke and Rogers Pass.

Who is going to make the final decision? Is there a committee that will look at all the variables and come to a final decision? It's probably about time to take all the suggestions and come to a decision.

Golden-area sounds good. What time frame are we talking here? When? Which month?

We've been nailing down a place, but there hasn't been much of a time. January is nearly gone, and the summer is fast approaching.

Just a thought...

(Mararmeisto said:)As to the fuel economy, The Moon Machine started off around 8.8km/litre, but it has been increasing steadily (now around 9.2km/litre). We do mostly city driving, so I don't expect it will get much better than that
Just taking the "Miss Lil' Bitchi" ('92 Mitsubishi Delica Chamonix GLX) through trials. She weighs 1850 kgs, empty and a wee bit over two tonne with me on board.

Having just installed Yokohama Geolander A/T-S Tyres (235/75/R15s) and running them at 33 psi, with the A/C on all the time, driving in the Vancouver/ North Shore area (rocking my way out of snow filled parking spots, gearing down on hills, &c), my little amber fuel pump first lit up @ 482kms and I filled up (Diesel Max, Mohawk) at just before the 500 kilometre mark. Since fueling up I have adjusted my tyres to 38 psi, turned the A/C off and using my brakes more instead of gearing down. There is less snow now but I am still in the city area. Will let you know how this tank's worth results in kilometre-age... smiles. I hope that this happens, Vavenby sounds interesting.

By the way, turning the engine on with the A/C already engaged really impresses small children, such as myself. In that nine second period between the first click and the second click ~ the A/C is winding up. Really sounds like an Imperial Reptillian Intergalactic Battle Cruiser, then I taxi. God I love this Machine!

Falco.

As far as Jasper goes, there is a great option campgroundwise!!! It is the Whirpool campground(group campground). It is well out of the way on the old 93A and if reserved in advance, there is a chance it could work. I can't remember how much it was per day but I know that the resevation are made at the Jasper information center. My 2 cents as a ex park canada employe!

I would most likely be able to make it late June or early July driving there from Quesnel, B.C.
