Attention!! WVO Is it SAFE??
We've recently encountered 3 delica's having some technical problem at cold start. Problem: Engine will not start at cold condition. Fuel: 2 units were premixed with WVO and diesel and 1 unit had a separate tank for the WVO. Failure: The glo plugs burned out and the Glo plug tips were both severed u...

Re: Valve Clearances
Hi,
It's 0.25mm (0.010 inches) for intake and exhaust at cold.

Re: Tapping again and squeeky suspension
Hi Dave, If tapping noise is more prominent when accelerating, check your intake and manifold gasket as it might be a leak from the exhaust side of one of the cylinders. Do you smell any fumes? When you have a small leak, you can hear it when you accelerate and load the engine. That will get louder ...

I've always tightened those lug nuts to the "falco torque" specs....100 ft-lbs.

Re: Delica Rocker Arms
easiest way to diagnose engine bearing failure is to cut the oil filter open to expose filter element and look for metal fillings. If you find it, bearings are possibly gone. If none, then you're lucky. It could just pin the wrist pins or worst case piston slap.

Re: Engine Tapping
Do you hear it at idle too? Big possibility it's your valve clearances. Adjustment is set at 0.010 inch for both intake and exhaust. Check rocker arm rollers too for excessive play. Check camshaft nose for wear.

Hi Golf Cart,
I've installed it last August. It sounds pretty quiet just like the original. The turbo just muffles it good I guess.

Re: Thermostat install
One thing I noticed on the new T-stat was the stamp 82 degrees. Russek quotes 88 degrees for the 2.4l. Will this still work? 82 degrees is the right thermostat setting for the 4D56 engine. Use only an original mitsubishi thermostat to avoid any complications. It's about $30 for a new one. Just a wo...

Re: Thermostat install
1. Drain coolant off rad and engine block. 14mm nut located on exhaust side of block.
2. Remove driver seat and engine cover.
3. Remove power steering pump.
4. Remove lower rad hose connected to thermostat hsg.
5. Remove and install thermostat.
Good luck.

Re: grease points on delica ????
There's 3 grease points on each wheel. One for the upper ball joints (nipple on top of upper arm with 90 degree fitting which you can loosen up to grease up without taking the tire off) and one on the tie rod ends and one on the lower ball joints ( you need to clean it up as it's hard to see on the ...

Re: help with squealing/grinding driveline?
Maybe you've checked this already but....check the front brake pads. They have a sensor that squeals irritably when the pads are low. And will be intermittent if the sensor just touched the rotors. It's a steady squeal irregardless of speed. Just a quick check before anything else.

Re: turbo timer is screaming
Just to add more information, Main reason we need to idle the engine for a few more minutes is basically to cool the turbine shaft down up to a temperature where the engine oil on the master assembly (main housing of the turbo) will not boil over and carbonize. The reason we have some bit of oil com...
