Glow plug issue solved for my Delica
So I am on my 3rd set of glow plugs since buying my L400 in May 2009. I have just installed a momentary switch (purchased from Lordco) in the glow plug circuit. I removed the signal wire to the glow plug relay (single AWG 14 with spade connector) and connected it to one side of the switch and the other side of the switch to the glow plug relay. So now when I start the engine, I hold the switch for 15 seconds, start and let the switch go. Glow plugs off. No more glow plugs running for 5 minutes and burning out. I located the switch just above the fuel door handle on the dash. Ran the 2 wires from the relay to the switch through the rubber grommet that holds the transmission selector cable.

What kind of glowplugs have you been using? The L400 plugs were originally designed to run on longer to assist the engine in getting up to normal operating temperature.smackie wrote:So I am on my 3rd set of glow plugs since buying my L400 in May 2009.
