L300 V6
I was wondering if the gurus of the Delica forum have any info on if a Montero V6, either the 3.0L or 3.5L will fit in the engine bay of the L300.

why not get the guy that was able to get your L300 into Florida to get you an L400? your power problems would be over.

It will take a lot of modifications including bodywork to get that v6 to fit in place of the 4.

Re: L300 V6
Hmm.... Interesting idea.
The old Chevy vans could have a V8 in them

Production 1967-1970
Class Van
Body style(s) van
Layout FMR layout
Wheelbase SWB: 2,286 mm (90.0 in)
LWB: 2,743 mm (108.0 in)
1968
This was the first year that Chevy Vans had side-marker lights. The front lights were located towards the front in the middle of the front doors, while the rear marker lights were located about a foot inward of the very back edge just below the vertical middle of the van.
The optional V-8 engine was upgraded from the 283 2-barrel (175HP) to the larger, more powerful 307 2-barrel V8 (200HP @ 4600 RPM).
A column shift 4-speed transmission (Warner T10) was now available as an option.

Could be an interesting project....

Re: L300 V6
If you do a body lift on a delica it drops the entire engine down. I think with that drop it should be enough to fit an extra half liter. Plus I like a challenge and doing what they say can not be done. I have once helped work on putting an sr20 into a miata, which if I am correct can also fit a V8 with a little a trimming.jfarsang wrote:It will take a lot of modifications including bodywork to get that v6 to fit in place of the 4.

Re: L300 V6
The Delica L300 is not a body/frame vehicle where you can space the frame and body from each other.
It's unibody.
I'm not knocking the idea. I like mod's but you'd be better off just putting in a larger turbo, intercooler, exhaust and tweaking it for more HP than to put in a V6.
You can swap in a 4G64. Those were in the L300 Delica's from the factory.

Re: L300 V6
X2 what jfarsang said: the old Chevy and Ford cab-over vans were built on the rail-frame and cab design, just like pretty much every car and truck of their day. Much, much easier to squeeze in something larger or change the mounting brackets on a design like that.
'Unstitching' a unibody vehicle, while possible, is time-consuming and expensive, and your welder's really got to be good. It's more of a project than it is a quick swap. Find a gasser and beef that up. Lots of tire-spinnin' L300s on YouTube (most seem to be in Eastern Europe).

Simply awe inspiring.
