Flourescent interior light

Post by bikepoor »

Has anybody ever found a Canadian supplier for the flourescent tube in the interior light? I tried the lighting supply shops here in Calgary without any luck. If not, has anyone found another source of the 12volt system, or is just easier to refit it with a standard bulb set up?

As the general consensus appears to be that I do not know what I'm talking about, and cause more harm than good, I am removing this post so that others are not tricked in to following my ill-advised instructions.

Home Depot does have a bulb that works - they are slightly longer, but they work just fine.

Updated info for the records. The tube to buy was a F17T8/TL830. It is about a 1/2inch longer than the original and a slimmer tube. The stock tube was a 20watt, this one is 17watts so it will be slightly dimmer than the original was, and will not last quite as long if you ran it all the time in the high setting on the dimmer switch. (10 years instead of the 17 the old one lasted) All that has to be done is slightly bend the mounting sockets outward, and the tube pops in nicely. Again less than 5 bucks at Home Depot.

Thanks for the help,

Jeff
