1990 Delica For Sale - SOLD
I’ve been wrestling with this one for awhile, but the unfortunate truth is that I don’t need this van anymore. New job, new location, student loan and a lot less free time are on the horizon, so my baby is up for sale.
Here are the specs:
- 1990 P25 (Low Roof) Delica Exceed, Automatic, 2.5L turbo diesel
- 110xxx kms
- Bought it from 5 Star Auto in Parksville in Feb. 2007, all servicing done by Glen at CCAutos, this was the first van to pass the new BC import inspection process
- At the time of purchase, the van had the following work done to it:
- All of the belts changed (including timing belts)
- New valve cover gaskets
- Transmission and fuel system flush
- Radiator core
- New sway bar bushings
- New tires (Hankook Baja A/Ts) – now have ~70% tread left, very good offroad, in snow and mud, and don’t throw stones like the BFG ATs tend to…
- New moonroof
- Installed side marker lights, and a high-mount brake light
- New front brake callipers
- and whatever else it is that Glen does to his vehicles, I likely forgot something….
Other goodies:
- Moonroof
- FET TB-370 Turbo timer
- Limited slip rear differential
- Leather wrapped steering wheel
- hardwood laminate floor with plywood subfloor and soundproofing
- Sony CD stereo with iPod jack (haven’t installed the converter to pick up NA radio frequencies, but it’s a simple job)
- 2 box mounted Premier 6x9’s, 2 dash mounted Blaupunkt 4” speakers
- FET foglights
- Custom built trailer hitch and rear bumper, wired and rated to 3000lbs, 2” ball
- Professional 80% window tint on all but windshield, driver and passenger windows
- Alloy rims
- Rear sliding windows (apparently rare, but great to have)
- Front window clips (for seating the window properly when rolling up at highway speeds)
- Owner’s manual and shop manual
- Brand new tire chains (1 set), never used
Work done recently:
- New glow plugs, rotated tires (Mar. 2008)
- “Deli tune” at CVI Auto (Apr. 2008)
- Rebuilt alternator (June 2008)
- New exhaust manifold gasket (July 2008)
The oil has just been changed, and I have changed the oil every 5000 kms, as well as changed the transmission fluid twice. I bought this van with 73k, and it’s now at 111k. The air filter has been replaced a couple of times, and the wipers and low beam headlights are brand new. The benefit of a 1990 is that the headlights are easily available in NA, and much cheaper than those required for 1991 and later model years.
I have the front and side steps, rear bench seat and altimeter/gyro pod, but they’re not on the van right now.
I have all receipts for everything….I took very good care of this van, and am fairly attached to it, as you probably noticed by the novel I’m writing. I have had the van on the road for long enough that any of the common problems with these vans that would likely crop up upon arrival in NA have been dealt with. Finally, almost all of the kms that I have put on it are long trips on the highway, with maybe 5% on gravel/offroad, and this is a coastal driven vehicle, so it's spent very little time near road salt.
Asking $8000 obo, PM me if you’re interested.

That is a sweet ride. Someone should be lucky to get it at that price. I'd love to have a 2nd at home to replace our other family van, but my lovely wife just isn't in love with these vehicles for some uknown reason....proving once again that opposites attract!

oooohhhhh...if it were a high roof it would be sold!!! I especially love the older headlamps.......and the narrow brush bar....if this sticks around for sale for too long I may have to alter my 'wish list'....dang

I talked to Scott about this van too and in doing so he told me he was away until I think the Oct 23ish....so if he doesn't get back to you that is likely why.

Re: 1990 Delica For Sale - $9500
Bump. Still looking for a home. I have over $14 000 in this van, and the only reason I'm selling it now at a loss is that I bought another car that is more suitable for both of our needs, and I can't afford to keep both. Otherwise, I'd never let it go. There has been a lot of interest, but because I was out of town for over a month, only one viewing.
So if interested, make me an offer.
Cheers,
Scott

Re: 1990 Delica For Sale - $9500
Price drop - now asking $8000. I'd say it's highly unlikely that you would be able to find a van in better mechanical condition for this price, and I'm probably stupid for posting it for that. There won't be any more price drops after this, if it doesn't sell for this, I have an offer to trade it for a sailboat. Which, wouldn't be a bad trade....but it won't pay off my debts any faster.
It's on craigslist for higher currently, but I'll change that in a couple of days if nothing happens here.
Serious inquiries only please.

Hey Scott. I'd been trying to remember which posting advertised both an owner's manual and a shop manual. Where'd you get them? Are they worthwhile? Nihongo ga dekiru? Or are they in English?
Did they go with the van? Did you make copies? Or is Matt maybe going to start a small printing operation...
