Maintenance

Post by brewskie »

My wife, daughter and I are heading to Vancouver/chilliwack area for two weeks vacation and looking to test drive some vans. I have been in contact with Martydelica and he has offered for let us drive his van. I am interested to know on average what people are paying per year for maintenance costs, fuel ect....We are the kind of folks who buy a vehicle and keep it for 10 years so any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Like any other 15 year old used car.

Delicas have a sturdy diesel engine and a tough driveline. If you look after them, they will look after you.

It will depend on how you use it.

We put a lot of miles on our Delica and use it for everything including camping, towing and commuting(50 minutes each way).

I replaced a 2004 Sunfire with a 1992 delica and budget wise I spend $30 to $60 a month more to use the delica. This includes fuel and regular maintenance. At the high end $60 a month might seem like a lot but we do a LOT more with the delica - When we had the sunfire we kept a Toyota 4x4 truck as a weekend camping/fishing vehicle. The Toyota hasn't moved since Mardy hooked us up with our Delica.

Diesel oil is almost twice as expensive as the oil used in gas engines so don’t be surprised when you see a $60 plus oil change.

If you drive at the speed limit the fuel consumption isn't too bad, if you have a lead foot it will be expensive.

Good luck, you cannot go wrong with Mardy.
