Turbo rebuild not working out

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Turbo rebuild not working out

Post by north54 »

Hey all, I was on the last step of my TD04 turbo rebuild putting everything back together. As soon as I tighten the nut of the compressor wheel they won't move freely. I've taken it apart 3 times and redid it but as soon as I do something more than finger tight the wheels don't move.

Its like something isn't the right size or something. Yes I did get the correct flatback rebuid kit. I'm almost tempted just to put my old parts back and try it.

Any ideas?

Sorted, the brass thrust surface was a bit warped not allowing the bearings to seat properly.

I just redid my turbo too. I noticed the nut from the turbo had a balance grind on it so I reused the old nut and vibrio engraved the shaft and impeller for reassembling.
