Firstly... thanks to all for your postings. Lots of good info on this site and a good number of very active users for quick response. Kudos!
Sooo.... decision made!.... I put my deposit down on a Delica. It's a '92 standard roof, 8 seater, automatic in what appears to be very good shape and has 75000 km on it. Amazingly clean inside and out with a few fun goodies added in - even the optional TV/VCR is in this one!!!. I am going to have a safari rack and lights put on top and new heavy duty shocks as the current ones seemed quite bouncy (altho I'm used to the sport suspension on my lowrider pickup which is rock hard). Will be picking it up next week - YAY!
Will also look for a ladder and perhaps aftermarket bullbars - doesn't look like your average minivan already but the further away from that the better, you know?
On the "me" end... My wife and I currently live in the White Rock area travel a lot to our cabin on the Sunshine Coast and there are tons of backroads to explore plus great x-country skiing and hiking up there. I'm also a scuba diver so this will take the gear and a few buddies too. VERY excited about opening up new things-to-do.
Also looking forward to continuing with visits to this forum.
So... here is a pic from the dealer for now...
Will post on the members rides once I take a few pix of my own.

nice lookin deli...all your ideas for persojal mods sound great...'cept the lights up top...being an avid offroader from years back, I've always had a chuckle when I see offroaders smash the lights off the top trying to squeeze under that low laying branch...OOPS!...I'd opt for keeping your lights down low...but hey...that's just me. :)
I like the color combo of your deli...looks great...My wife bought her 92 high roof 7 seater just before santa came to town...she's been smiling since...I'm sure you'll have a great time breaking yours in to the BC backroads mapbook series...just as we are doing now :)
enjoy!

Thanks for your good advice on the high lights! I will still do it tho. I used to have a monster toyota with aircraft landing lights on top and never had a problem - about 10 to 11 feet tall at the roof - drove the poop out of it too. It will help to temper the urge to "blaze" (if that's even possible) thru the crazy stuff... slow and easy avoids breakage most ways round - particularly my head against the side window.
The colour was what drew me to it in the first place. It just kinda looked more "awake" and excited to get out there. Once I looked inside I couldn't believe how clean it was - almost like nobody's ever been in it with the exception of the snarl of wiring for the TVs etc - but... hey, a guy's gotta have something to work on, right? Wanted to start off with something in really good shape and build on it from there.
Was just surfin thru some of the photos and trips everyone's been on and am looking forward to contributing to that and hopefully meeting some of you all....
...AH HA! Hi Energizer! Was going to mention I'd seen a Delica turning off the highway around Roberts Creek (can't remember the colour tho) - was kinda like a sasquatch sighting - was sure I saw "something" but when I fully comprehended it, it was gone. Can I presume that was you or is it just a myth?
Cheers!
