Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Front Brake Calipers

Post by DelicaMark »

Replaced the front brake calipers today. Smoking hot front right wheel, burning brakes smell and pulling to the right were the symptoms....hmmm maybe I should check out the brakes? Frozen brake caliper.

Anyway the job is not hard to do, you will need a person to help out with the brake bleeding though. Thanks to Breadman for the confirmation of the correct part number for the calipers.

SLC8054 for left....I am pretty sure it was for the left
SLC8055 for the right...again pretty sure.
I would advise if you are just planning on changing just one that you confirm which is left and which is right with the parts guy. However, most seem to think that you should change out both at the same time even if just one is seized.

Updated the Wiki with the better part numbers. The ones that were listed were for a part that kind of worked, but required modifications. These just bolt right on.

glad it worked out. the other thing to do just to be safe is to check you brake fluid level in a couple of days of normal driving and then again in a week, just to make sure that you tightened all your bolts and nuts. if your brake fluid is low your handbrake light should activate and stay on even if your handbrake is released. cool little feature i thought.
