I want to installed a new floor in my van and I have a bounch of lamite floor in my garage. My question is, is it a good sound barrier??? For all road noise while driving. I'm thinking to keep the factory isolation pad underneed. Is it a good Plan??
Everything is already out. I'll clean it tonight and start the floor tomorow.
thank you!!

Re: Laminate Floor...
I put Laminate in my van and love it!! Hard to say if it is better for sound or not, in my opinion it would only be a few decibels if any difference. I have an L300 and from my experience they are not the quietest ride in the world to begin with, but that being said, I left the foam on the bottom of the laminate that I installed and just used PL400 to glue down the boards. I would think that if you removed the factory pads you would get vibration from the wood directly on the metal floor of the van and that would probably increase noise for sure! If you really wanted to decrease noise you could always buy acoustic isolation matt from an audio dealer and put that down first then the floor, but that would add 150 lbs or more of weight.

Re: Laminate Floor..
Thank you Nordo.
It is went I saw your post that I decided to installed laminate floor in my Van. My old smell like shit and needs to be replace. I have a L400 and it is not the quitest ride on earth for sure.
But I don't want to increase the noise. I'll see tomorow how it goes and I'll decide from there I think. Small bench project after that and I'm think to built a roof rack like your's. He his awesome, but I want to built it with metal tubebing and I have an Idea for inproving the mount in the guter. Is it the same guter on the L400 than L300??
