L400 block heater installation DIY help needed.

Post by chrisbouchard »

I have searched the forum but cant find any concise information on installing my block heater in my 94 L400... I found one great DIY but it was done on an L300... are they similar installs?

I have researched inline coolant heaters, oil pan heaters ect. and have decided to go with a proper frost plug block heater. I have the part in my hand and I am in the north and cant find anyone who is willing to take on an install on a vehicle they dont know so im going to have to dive into it myself. Ive read its really difficult and im ok with that but any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all, One day I hope to be able to give back to this great community that has helped me out countless times with my Deli's!

I seem to remember when the L400 first came out several people used a screw in heating element I believe where the block drain plug is. It looked like a very easy install - much easier than the frost plug. I can guarantee it's easier than the frost plug install for the L300.
This may help for the frost plug type. http://www.delica.ca/forum/block-heater ... -6592.html

Wow that was perfect. thank you so much! That is one tight squeeze in there holy smokes! deep breathing and one bout of cussing when i repeatedly smashed my hand on the steering linkage trying to get the frost plug out and its done! just need to find some protective tape for the chord and it will be all completed.

Thanks again,

Chris.
