L400 (early) turn sig switch parts

Post by DeliTan »

Hi Folks;

I could use the whole sub assembly but really only need the part that holds the turn signal arm.

If you have one in the Vancouver area, I would be pleased to pull it myself.

Still hoping I can find a "parked" L400 for this part.

No way I can afford a new one...

If I were you I'd be tempted to buy the combo switch from an equivalent Montero to see if it fit.

OK. So no response, and finding one at a dealer is unaffordable (for me). I guess I will check out off-shore sources. Apparently this part breaks often. Once I have a replacement for the offending piece, I will look into printing replacements with a 3D printer. I could do this from a broken one but mine is shattered and incomplete

I posted something about this a while back and there is one that you can order form RockAuto in the states that will work for much cheaper. I can't remember off the top of my head but it is on a thread somewhere. I will try to find it and post it for you.

Here is some. Do a search on turn+signal+indicator and see what pops up.

Thanx Craig;

I have bookmarked those links in case I can't find just the part I need. I hate to buy a big assembly for a small part, but I will if necessary.

BTW that assembly is 50% cheaper than a the best price I have received for a used assembly that contains the part I need so far. (likely about the same price by the time it got here). Neither would be a complete replacement for my Deli.

I still want to manufacture the specific part when I can find a sample. I can think of several materials that could be used; better than the brittle plastic original.

Hi Folks;

For the sake of completeness, I am posting that I found a repair to this issue. It may not work for you, depending on your actual problem and your interest in dismantling the system.

I bought a replacement turn signal assembly as suggested by CREGAN (thanx again).
Part# B007TYPU5U from Amazon.com for $33.08 US$

Once I had the 2 side by side, I could see several differences. I had hoped to use most of the new one but, due to several electrical differences, I ended up using only the damaged part's replacement. However It wasn't an exact fit. I needed to trim some plastic off 4 separate locations in order to make it fit and work smoothly.

Although I have many hours into this project, I feel now it could be done in an hour or so...

Shoulda taken pix. Doh!
