L300 Hazzard and Fog Light fuses keep blowing.

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

L300 Hazzard and Fog Light fuses keep blowing.

Post by king88mob »

I just went to replace them two weeks ago.

Everything was working until last night when driving in the rain and the fog lights cut out. I went to check the hazzard lights and they don't work either. I'll be checking the fuses tonight but I suspect they are blown again (which is exactly what happened 2 weeks ago when I had to replace both fuses)

Has anyone seen this before? Any advice on tracking down what I suspect to be a short in the wiring somewhere? Could it be a short in the dash? And why both ?

Is it always raining when they blow?

the first time it's hard to tell. It was raining when I noticed them no longer working, but how long they'd been broken I couldn't tell you. Likely yes though.

Thinking about it, the fog lights and their connectors have seen much better days... the fog lights are rusted out, maybe water is getting into them and shorting them out

When you say the foglight fuse do you mean the one thts attached to the indash foglight switch[you need to pull the foglight switch out of the dash to find it] or are you talking about the headlight fuse in the main fuse panel ? Cheers Jay

on my P35W (1996) there's a 20amp fuse on the bottom row of the box, it's the last one on the right. I checked and it seems to only control the fog lights, my headlights still work with it blown.

I find it odd that they both blow simultaneously each time. Its still raining here in sunny New Zealand so I'll drive around town with the van today and see what happens. It's been suggested that there may be a leak dripping onto the fuse box, not sure that's a likely explanation but you never know.

I can't really think of anywhere other than the fuse box and the wiring loom where these two systems are anywhere close to each other.
