On the Prowl

Post by uli »

Hi!

Personally I've been admiring the Delica from afar for the past year, while my wife always exclaimed on how ugly and old it is. Now... as we've been looking into mini-vans for even longer (for a growing family, our tercel is getting quite small), she stumbled across info on how nice it is, and suddenly it's "Oh, but it's so cuuuuuute!" with her trying to convince me that we need one (not much convincing needed).

So now we're on the prowl, with the aim of getting one within the next 2-5 months (or less if the right one comes along), still trying to figure out if it's worth the risk importing, or going with a reputable dealer (though I have yet to see mention of financing options).

I've sat in one, and taken closer looks, I'm planning to testdrive one within the next 2 weeks or so. All in all, with a footprint similar to our tercel but with all that lovely room (even at 6'3" it wasn't too bad for me) and all the other bonuses it's the vehicle we've been looking for for quite some time now.

Welcome,
Well, all I can say is you are doing the right thing while also taking you're time - and that has to be good too. I checked out some of the dealers around town - and was then lucky enough to come accross a fellow doing more private sales (well, he imports as a side business - but sort of private sale!). In the end, I'm the kind of person that has to test drive before I put my money down. I know it might be the same crap shoot in the end as looking over detailed reports from the auction agent etc etc - but for me it's about driving, developing comfort, and then having some form of immediate gratification - which I've been having for about 6 weeks now as a new Deli owner. The experience has been great! I've seen these neat little trucks since my first biz trip to Japan in 1996 and just "had to have one" once I saw them on our local streets (Vcr). Well, to each his own, but no matter what route you take, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

FYI - my wife had a very similar reaction as yours. We own a 2003 Toyota Sienna as well...guess which car my wife likes to drive more now??? Yup...that's right!
