Why do we allow this?
It might be just me?
It's been discussed before I know...
But Delica.ca isn't what it used to be!
I click on View active topics and out of the 17 posts that show on p.1 only 5 of them aren't dealer related. I can't be the only one getting annoyed as I've notice Fexlboi isn't participating anymore... I'm gonna miss all his creative German engineering postings.
Anyway, I used to check this site regularly if not daily but now I'm quickly loosing interest.
Just venting...

Re: Why do we allow this?
true 'nuff. Although all of the dealer-related posts are in their "correct" category.
Maybe as simple as allowing "View active topics" or "View new posts" to be customizable/filterable. Perhaps a new choice "View custom new posts" or similar.
I.e. goto your User Control panel and be presented with a list of all sub-forums on the site, then select/de-select those categories which you want to populate your search when you look for new posts - like allow L300 / L400 / General discussion, but switch off Sales by Dealers and Parts/supplies if you so choose.
Shouldn't be that hard to implement.

Top posting got out of control so we have built a separate website called "Delica Trader", which is slated to replace "Vehicle Sales" ~ it's really been a substantial piece of work. It was voiced ~ so we built it. Then something extraordinary happened. Out of the very thread which is announcing the change that will free up VAT (View Active Topics) ~ We experienced a sudden bout of trolling.
Vehicle Sales will be off of VAT as of 1 September, 2011 ~ and as of 1 October, 2011 Vehicle Sales will be no more. There will be an up dating direct link to Delica Trader from VAT and likely the Board Index & the Homepage, as well ~ that will free up VAT and provide for those who wish to be updated with the goings on of the market, too. Simple, really? The original announcement was posted as a pink sticky on 7 July in Sales by Canadian Registered Dealers as an advanced notice for dealers. On 1 August it goes global (green sticky) to remind all interested that there is one month left to get your affairs in order.
In the meantime there is nothing actually stopping anyone from posting. What I find amusing is no matter how many times the news is posted, the reaction is as if the news was written in invisible ink
Falco.
P.S.:

One could also just go to the Board Index page and only check the forums you are really interested in, too... smiles. Please be patient, we are working on it. ~ FC.

Re: Why do we allow this?
You should just make a seperate website to handle vehicle sales. You could call it Delica Trader or something.
I predict as soon as that site is in full swing we will just see a pile of posts from dealers in the remaining forum sections referencing there items for sale over on Delica Trader. Kind of like this: new-mitsubishi-challeger-suv-2-8-turbo-diesel-available-now-11311.html. I hope this will be discouaged. I like an active 'for sale' section but do not like when it bleeds into other sections.

Hey, what a great idea!psilosin wrote:You should just make a seperate website to handle vehicle sales. You could call it Delica Trader or something.![]()
We are still in the think tank mode regarding Delica Parts & Supplies, that would be a prime target for top posting. Still thinking putting anything to do with selling in DT, even T shirts. Mark is on a cruise on his yacht right now, when he returns we will be having a board meeting, eh?

Re: Why do we allow this?
Was your last sentence meant to be taken as a stfu? That is how I interpreted it, but I can't see how my comment could get anyone upset so maybe I'm just misreading it. As such, assuming it wasn't and you think other people that actually use the forum might have ideas/input of some merit for consideration: if DT takes off as hoped that would be great if it did become a one click away one stop shopping area including parts and other vehicles. That would give sellers all the freedom to promote their goods as they wish without upsetting all the people that use the VAT system on Delica.ca (whatever that is, I don't use it) that do not like the 'for sale' ads cluttering it up. Sounds like a no brainer win-win...if as indicated above, you don't allow cross-referencing posts to screw the whole seperation up. Cross-reference posts outside of distinct 'For Sale' sub-categories would result in the same problems for people that use the VAT (clogged by for sale references) and actually make it worse for people like me that do not even use VAT and just surf by sub-category directly manualy looking for new posts (ie right now I am unaffected by for sale posts/bumps because I don't notice them unless I go journeying onto that sub-category by my choice). Not sure why that comment would be taken as an offence toward you or Mark if it was...it was meant as a heads-up or all the work put into DT and fixing the complaints at delica.ca could be in vain.FalcoColumbarius wrote:Mark is on a cruise on his yacht right now, when he returns we will be having a board meeting, eh?
Falco.
*Also Mardy I wasn't meaning to single you out if you took offence...it was just a good example to use.

Re: Why do we allow this?
Really? No man, it wasn't meant as STFU (had to look that one up), it was meant more as TIC (tongue in cheek). It was meant to make you chuckle.
We do consider other peoples ideas, that is what led to DT, in fact I am currently working on a side project that has spawned out of an idea that Naterade suggested in the Adsense thread in the Site Suggestions forum.
Sorry Psilosin, I'm not sure which comment you are referring to. Besides, Mark and I have pretty thick skins, well thick, anyway ~ maybe not pretty (sic). Back stabbing & threats on the other hand are another matter. Still, we have to take into account that we may not have read the phrase as it was intended. So we take our time, I believe that "understanding the question can be more important than finding the answer", as it were.
When I paint I have a mantra that I use ~ in fact I strive to use it though many facets of my life: "Systematic Continuity". I find it provides stability and consistency to whatever it is applied to. It's when bureaucracy truly succeeds over constantly changing one's mind.

Re: Why do we allow this?
hi, Psilosin,
no problem, its ok i do understand it does not bother,
hope u understand i did post that trend to just to let other member on pajero section that there is
existing newly design suv similar to Pajero.
maybe just my interpretation but just to educate them the new design is available now.
not meant to ad this for sale but to educate that there is a newer one available now.
which is totally new even to me. here in canada.
to me its not new as i know there is original left hand drive this type of SUV diesel in the phils.
hope to clear this;
Cheers:

Re: Why do we allow this?
I belong to another forum where if you post a for sale add outside of the designated classified section (delica trader), you get a warning and if you do it again without a good excuse you are banned. Its not difficult or complicated .
