Not I.

The automatic tranny is far more robust than the 5-spd.

People in the US swap out the 5-spd's transmissions in the Montero's for auto's because they are pretty much bulletproof.

This is one area where the auto is better than a 5spd. 8-)

Have any of you had the dreaded fuel pump seal problem that the 4m40 engine is prone to?

It depends on who you buy a rig from. I know 2 local dealers who include this seal replacement in a pre-sale maintenance package. :M
I bought mine from one of them, put 13,000 km on it in 4 month and I am really happy with my choice.

Hey Ian!
Luvin' mine too... much better on the big hills on the highway. Wasn't 100% sure about making the switch from my L300 but, now, I am super pleased. Gradually getting her set up the way I want and she has been very good to me on the mechanical end - she came from a dealer who is very meticulous on the pre-sales details. Will soon be posting my build-up pics. Tows a trailer well too!

Cheers!

17 months, 23K kms and still loving it.

Apart from expected maintenance stuff (brakes, fluids, glowplugs, filters), a few minor hiccups, but they were replacements/upgrades of irritating issues (replaced some wheel bearings and front-end rubber bits after 15 yrs of Japanese pavement followed by some harder BC offroading, better battery); never anything that stranded me.

Nice find, Mardy! :-)

I finally got a good long drive in an L-400 yesterday - a V6 gasser no less too. It does X-L-R-8! I do like the way the wipers both throw to the outside giving the passenger a clearer view, but otherwise, well, it's not really my cup of tea - I much prefer the cab over design of the L-300 - that's the core of what I like best about my bus. Happy to exchange waves with all you 400 aficionados though - yer still delicas, after all! :-D

so far so good just after 2 weeks ownership and just a short 200Km roundtrip outing. wife loves it, the kids love it (well 2 year old, and 2 month old), room is nice, the view is awesome, you just tower over everything and look down at drivers of other minivans who look up in awe, lol. got 12.48L/100km of mixed city (lots of start stop) and highway, so i know i can get it lower with just highway driving.
the ride is very VERY comfy, thanks to the new shocks Mardy put, easy to steer, crisp throttle response, easy to park. also don't mind that it's narrower than other minivans (but much taller), but it gives you lots of room on either side when takin the kids out at the mall lots.
but we still need more time to get to know the rig and take her on more trips...up next banff with my dad camping along the way.

Looks like there will be pros and cons just like in UK,I think it's whatever you prefer,I'm still a die hard L300 man
but then I never did like change and as for the D5 what an ugly piece of kit, still you won't have to worry about that for a few years yet!!!.
