What is supposed to be in this bolt hole? (interior)

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

What is supposed to be in this bolt hole? (interior)

I have a 1990 P04W L300 USA-spec.
There is a bolt hole that is next to the steering column on lower section of the dash.
What is supposed to be there? Does this bolt mount anything? Or does it just secure the plate that the bolt would go though? I found a bolt that does fit (that came with the L300), but I don't know if that is the bolt that goes there. Thank you.

Hey I think that's an aftermarket hole-i just checked that space in my 92 diesel-no hole there on mine
