I really like your ideas. How long are you planning on making this? Seems like you have a lot to fit in. You shouldn't have a problem getting 12, if the site keeps growing. Be prepared for a couple people to not be able to make it last minute. Our last meet went very smoothly, thanks to Brett for booking the camp site for the first night, and mitch and others knowing their way around, because I didn't. Be prepared, but not so prepared you will be disappointed if things don't go as planned.

Good luck, i'll do my very best to make it out, who knows what 2008 holds for me though.

I was thinking four or five days. Why not, you're there anyway, might as well make the best of it. Last time I was in Banff was six years ago, don't know when I'll get there again. I suppose people will stay as long as they want to, like anything really.
Cheers,

Deli meat 2008

Post by Pete and Jackie »

Is this 2008 already? Whoa.
We're boogie bussing across the country to Newfoundland in the summer of 2008. We want to stop in many places along the way, camping out and whatnot. Banff/Jasper etc. will definitely be on the list. We also like scotch and Deli meats, hmmm sounds like we're in! Actually Jackie tells me we're driving to Calgary next month to look at her family so if there's any interest we'll be camping in the rockies on the both ways!

I can help if any plans to head up to the Jasper area , I lived in Jasper for almost ten years and still am in contact with a lot of people there . There is a lot to see and do but campgrounds fill up really quick and they are not cheap . Would be nice to hang out on my `old turf` for a few days . I used to commute each week between Vancouver Island and Jasper and I think the trip maybe a little slower in the Delica than the Porsche 928 I used last time !!!!

Post by ccautos »

I would never drive above the posted limits because thats not allowed . Did you know that the top speed of a 928 according to Porsche is 260km/h . I have never made it to that though . No really I ran out of erm `track` at 255km/h

I don't know what the top speed of my old benz was... but I ran out of nerve at about 185... I'm pretty sure however that the Delica's top speed is significantly lower...

I just bought a 91 mercedes 300 AMG in and am yet to drive it `with passion` . I have a couple of 928`s right now if anyone wants one cheap !!! I just recieved my lifted 91 Exceed with racks and lights all over it and that seems to be more popular with my kids right now !!! Anyone around Parksville / Qualicum look out for the grey beast cruising .

i can't seem to find a date posted but i am up for Banff Jasper (but am much more inclined for Jasper, Banff is way too comercialized now)

i will see what i have at the time, can Pajeros come along or is this a Delica only run? (i want to know which i can build up...)

We would be totally in for a Rockies trip. If anyone wanted to get the great scenery without the tourists, check out Elk Lakes Provincial Park. It's just over the mountain from Jasper outside of Elkford (Wilderness Capital of Canada). Super good flyfishing, logging roads, old cabins, trees, birds that talk, skies that spin. Oops, that BC green is already calling my name...

Hey Thomas, don't forget the Lagavulin, my personal fave as I never usually have to share. Newbie Scotch drinkers can't handle the peat I guess.

Hi Wayne et al,
I'd like to keep the 08 meet a Delica thing so pimp out your nicest unit. And I agree with you on the whole commercialization of Banff. Perhaps we could base out of somewhere in the Kananaskis - there are some great spots north of the Highwood Pass. I'll look into camp sites, rates and booking.
From there we can go north, south or west with relative ease.
I'm looking at booking sites for the last week in June or the first week of July. Anyone already have plans that far ahead or will this work? I will be reserving two sites to start with - for Shep and me. I will get the contact info for everyone else to book there's independantly by visa/email/phone.
"Eyh Lad, get yer fithy mitts off my Laggie."
I'll take a belt of the Lagavuline once and a while but I'm more partial to the highland stuff myself.
When I'm mixing with Drambuie it doesn't matter - nothing matters after a few. I think I'm going to have one right now...

I'd rather it didn't take place over canada day.... just personal preference from a young guy who would like to have a drink with his friends.
