Looks like a nice unit. The reason I'm so hot for the JVC is the large volume knob. I miss knobs on my car deck, I hate having to hunt around for the volume up/down buttons. And if I do cave and get a CD MP3 deck instead of a DVD MP3 deck I'll be hauling around 85 MP3 CDs instead of 14 MP3 DVDs. CD decks will go the way to the CD-ROM drive in your PC in the next year or 2 once to US market has done unloading all their expired 'best before' technology on the Canadian market. That being said I have been sorely tempted to get a $100 MP3 CD deck, it is a huge improvement over the late 1980s CD deck I'm using now.

I would highly recommend a deck with a remote

it's hard to find a deck these days without one! But this is one of the few vehicles where a remote really makes sense! I leave mine in one of the cuby-holes in the back of the vehicle, then I can control the stereo when camping/lunching/etc in the back.

But, if you upgrade your Deli's speakers the difference is amazing (finally did my own). Do at least the fronts, the $50 4 inchers that just I used in the front are worlds better then the stock ones. My beater Deli with a 100 buck deck and another 100 bucks for speakers (with new wiring, but thats' what I do) sounds just fine with me - plus with my 3 mp3 CD's I'm set.

Today I payed (well mom did, happy birthday me) for a new deck. Its the alpine digital media receiver, no cd player at all, but the s creen is basically an ipod, so its going to be awesome with the ipod hooked up in the glove box, controlled perfectly from the deck. I didn't do speakers yet, but when I do i think it will be some 4 inch JL's in the front and maybe 6.5 inch components in the back, in case i start watching more movies in there. I still have a love for the JL w3v2 sub woofers, there are w 10 inchers that were demos for sale at a&b sound for $100 each, which is a great deal, but I jsut don't have the money for wire and an amp and a box. maybe they'll still be there whe nI have the money.

449.99, plus the new wiring harness at around $40, and shot materials and instal at around $50, came to 609 with tax, the philosophy is go big or go home. Its the coolest thing out there.

So I'v been looking around all spaces of the deli looking for a spot to put two more speakers in. The only place I could find would be if i were to put in a box and place it behind the driver and passanger seats, but then realized that when the engin needed work and you folded the passanger seat up the box would get in the way. Then I looked up, the vent tube that runs across the roof above the front seats, would it be possible to put a tweeter in there, facing down above my head.

if you really want something bigger inthe front I believe you can fit a inch with a tweeter in your door right by your feet. Lots of vehicles have speakers mounted in this area stock, might not be a bad idea. I had an audio place in kimberley that made some mounts try to sell me them because the original buyer (4 runner owner) backed out or something, It was just a piece of wood cut out and carpeted to fit, Wiring can be done just gotta make sure its not in a pinch point.

That front passenger speaker is hell. I used to have an old 85 Toyota van which was probably the easiest speaker removal/install I could imagine. In the Delica, the front driver's side is so simple it's laughable, the passenger side makes up for that though. You have to remove the vent adjustors, open the glove box, remove a bunch of screws, reach in and stretch your arm until it contorts, use a flashlight, find the right socket (7/8) I believe, then a wrench or driver short enough to do the job. once you get the old speaker out, you have to do it all again when you replace it with a new one. Make sure you tighten up everything nice and snug, and wire properly, because you don't want to do it twice!
As for the rear speakers, removing the curtains and a few screws and then being really careful finding the various body plugs to pop out seems like peanuts. I installed 4" Infinitys in the front and 5 1/2" Infinity components in the back. The tweeters reach nicely up to the top corners and velcro onto the ceiling fabric. The Mid driver really powers better than any bass tube can, and I won't sacrifice any space for a real sub setup. I can drown out anything with just these speakers running off of a Kenwood 35x4 deck. I recommend buying a deck with an audio output (plug as opposed to the tape adapter). You can run anything (ipod, etc.) from that and cut down on cassette noise.

the right socket (7/8) I believe

I just replaced my front speakers . . . but I only removed the glove box and worked blind around the corner. The correct socket size for me was 5/16.

I just bought 6x9 speakers because I understand with some plastic cutting they will fit where the 5.25 inch speakers are found in the rear. Has anyone else made this modification?

Just looking around the dash of my newly arrive Delica. Stock stereo was removed, knew that from the pics, but I was suprised to find in lying around in the back of the van. Wierd thing is, it seems that the mounting hardware is not there. I'm going to have to mount something in there, but I don't think I can tollerate the plastic mounting kit crap I've seen for sale.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Insight? Please....

I'll try to snap some pics, maybe it will be easy to see if I'm missing something

where are most peopple who redue speakers hiding the wires, under the carpet or in the pannles, is it hard to redue the wiring?

went all in the other day.drove down to some audio visual auto store on pemberton on boxin day and finaly up dated my system.got a clariton deck ( nothing special) and new hertz 4 inch in the front and 6.5 hertz in the rear.set me back alot $632 bucks, which im alittle pissed about cause it isnt really meetinin what i hoped.its good and all with melow music at like volume 25.whne i put them really loud the pockets in the back panle rumble around and vibrate (makes me pretty mad)but easily fixed.my buddy just totalyed his jeep so im hoping to pick his amp up off him and thne may be ill get some book shelf speakers ( for a house) and just have them on a seporate volume and put them louder and thne half the new hertz as filler sound.i want to get something in a box so whne i go camping a can just pull them right out of the deli and start a dance party
