how good is a stock Deli?

I want to know because I am heading out in November to go Moose Hunting in MU 3-12 (Between Merrit and Kelowna along the 97C). My plans for a two inch lift will not be complete by then; I'm using p235's Geolanders presently (same as Falco) and so I am hoping that I shouldn't have any problems. I'll bring chains, too. But is the stock Delica as bad ass as I like to think it is?

Seen that YouTube video of those crazy Russians? A stock Delica is that good. It's got pretty good clearance and the wheelbase is short enough that it doesn't get high-centered too easily.

That being said, I think a stock Pajero is probably better suited as a true 4x4.

But the worst I've really taken either out into is an unkept FSRs, so I wouldn't count myself an authority on their capabilities.

Enzo, I got the Miss Lil' Bitchi lifted an inch and an half by adding an extra leaf in the rear suspension and re-indexing the torsion bars. Before I did that I did a fair amount of bush driving in the Ominecas. At that time I had P235/75R15s on, 'though now I have LT235s. Are you going into snow? What kind of chains are you running?

Call me if you want to rag chew this subject over a cup of whatever... smiles. I'd be into it, I'd love to pick your brains while we're at it.

I have a 2" lift with 31's on mine and found that it has made a big difference in terms of clearance. What I would have scratched the radiators on previously I now miss. I've only noticed that one difference though as I didn't test my 4X4 out too much before installing the lift.

Our L400 is stock and I have taken it all over our farm,etc.

It is a remarkable vehicle really.

A lift would be good for it but from what we have found replacing the engine bash plate with something more substantial is more important,especially if going off road or when the conditions change,

I haven't got chains yet, Falco. But I will most likely get the real chain type, not cable. Anyhow, I will call you in the next few days and we can chew the fat. Gotta head to the range soon, maybe you would like to come along?

As for those crazy Russian vids; yeah, I have seen them. And those guys are crazy. Good to know a stock Deli can do all of that. Not that I would do all of that, but at least I know I can.

You may have better luck with a 30-06

If your working the logging roads up there you'll have no problems. Just take your normal get out of a jam gear!

I'll be taking my 300 Mag, (not shown in picture).

I'll have tow strap, chains, shovel, axe and a little Bourbon (for the fire).

Well then, you're all set.

Dont forget to take a back up in case the Mag goes south. Nothing worse than being out in the middle of nowhere and you jam a round.

I was in the Kettle all last week. Heard Elk, saw Moose, but it is still too warm. Hopefully we will get a cooling trend and the upper areas north of the Penask will yield a hefty bull.
