Bed, and storage

Post by Carp »

Here are some pictures of the mods done on the van for camping.
My van is an L400 SWB. The bed is 6-4" by full width of the van at the back and 48" wide at the door. The bench makes for a nice seat and holds back the bedding so we just roll it out at night. With the front seats forward, there is enough room for the cooler behind the drivers seat while the bed is out. The swivel seat really makes a difference! There is an auxiliary battery behind one of the back drawers to power extra lighting and an inverter. We installed a 2" lift kit and some 31" tires and a great roof rack and took it on the White rim road in Canyonlands.

The bed with storage under is the only way to go. I need five seating positions including two car seats in mine so I could not build any bed structure. How did you wire the auxiliary battery from the engine compartment? That is quite a distance! Did your van come with the swivel seat? That is a really nice extra.

Looks great! How big of a box did you build for your sub? I have 2 12" and am trying to figure out how much room it will take up. Did you get the sliders for your drawer from lee valley as well?
