Changed fuel filter and she now runs like crap

I know this might be a strange question but what did i do wrong? I changed my fuel filter topped the new one up with diesel and now it runs like crap!!! the idle is all over the place no power, could i of got air in the ip? would it work its way out in time? did i hit some sort of wire, i dont know what i did wrong any ideas would be great, oh its a 2.5 pajero lwb. I post it here thinking more people would see it and help out. thanks again

you may have air in the system

did you lube the bottom and top oring seal with oil or diesel and are they tight enough ?

yeh i lubed it all up with new 15-40 put it on hand tight and then 1/4 turn with strap wrench.
i pulled it all apart thinking i may of cracked the assembly, no crack thank god. I think the next step is to change the rubber fuel line. I have some here so i'll get started.
do you think that if i push clean diesel through the ip pump that i might get the air out?
i have a low pressure lift pump that would work.
Im kinda looking at every thing, i need her up and running tomorrow

putting in a lift pump will be good. have it tured on before you crank it over to push the diesel to the IP. then crank it over and see. If the vanes in your IP are worn and/or the seals, you may need an IP overhaul.

Also possible that when you changed the filters, some old gunk clogged up either the new filter or went into the IP.

What I would do is buy two cans of seafoam. Put one can into the fuel filter (drain the diesel out) and one can in the tank then fill it up with diesel. Start it over and go out on the highway doing 100km hr for 10-15 mins. That should blow any crap you had lodged in the fuel system.

Ok. Ill give that a shot. I have one can of sea foam so ill put that in the filter. i also have some diesel klean + lube, ill put that in the tank ill just rig the lift pump to plug in the 12 volt plug and im gona hope for the best I have a long night ahead of me

OK i ran the lift pump pre filter as to push fuel out of any leaks. No leaks found. I ran the pump for 5 mins to push air out of ip, then i pulled filter and filled with sea foam. I was expecting lots of smoke and a ruff idle but it was pretty smooth. Ran a few mins then off to the hi-way, there was no sputtering or anything she ran smooth a little hot, but that must be the sea foam?
she now runs great Not sure if it was air in the ip or just a bad fit on the seal. eather way she runs good now. I should of done the sea foam flush to start with as its never a bad idea to clean the fuel system. Again thanks for the help..
Oh it only took a hr to do, gettin good at pulling that filter
