Belated hello

Post by warmland89 »

Hey everyone,

I have been an owner of a white 89 Deli for about 2 1/2 years now and she runs like the day I bought her. Great vehicle for the right person. I have been a member of the UK forum since my purchase and only now found out about this one (duh...). Great to see so much local input. I struggled for a long time finding parts. Looks like those days are over.

It seems like everyday there's new deli around.

See you all on the road.

Sorry about that. Thought it would come up in my profile... I'll work on that.

Duncan, BC, which is about 45 minutes north of Victoria on Vancouver Island.

Belated hello

Post by jrman »

Welcome,
I doubt I would have bought my deli without this message board. I developed the confidence of accessibility of part based on information found here. This message board is simply awesome.

I've only had my deli a week and I've been astounded at the reaction from people on the streets, at the gas station, my friends, co-workers, even my 73 year old mother!!!!

My wife thought I was nuts at first...but guess who has been stealing the keys this weekend???? She loves driving it now :-D .

I first saw one in 1996 in Japan on a biz trip and have been attracted ever since. I recall saying back then that MMC would have a good market in Canada for this vehicle....I was right.
All the best,
Sean

The L300 is a very striking vehicle..I still gape and drool whenever I see one on the road. (Vancouver BC). It's just too bad that the new gasoline SUV's that MMC sell out here now are so Godawfully ugly...as well as most of their cars. (and the L400 too, in my opinion.)

I too had seen and heard of your Delica a few year ago when they were few and far between. Even think I waved at you once, late in 05, south of your town - was a white Delica for certain and seeing one back then was a rarity. It was the first other Delica I'd seen! Lucky for you my sweetie wouldn't let me chase you down like I wanted to.

Also have heard, from friends and family in Duncan, that you have fantastic office Tom. Sure looks nice on your website!

Cheers and Welcome to the Canadian side of Delica.....

Thanks!

My brother in law (delicamark) just got a spiffy 91 Delica low roof on the weekend. All black. Very cool. One of our fiends commented that we look like "SPY vs SPY".

At my office there is often a Delica in the parking lot. The coffee shop next door seems to draw them in. Maybe I should rename the practice Delica Dental...

...maybe not.

Tom and I were thinking a Duncan Delica meet might be in order. I think there are 4 of us in Duncan now and lots more on the island. There are a number of places just off the highway to explore.

Me or Tom will start a seperate topic once we figure out some of the details.

Your white Deli got my wife and boys interested (I work just down the street) and... we've now got a 91 Starwagon... up at the Lake. See you out there!

Just noticed that you're talking about a get-together in the Duncan area - how about this weekend? We're coming up to drop off the transfer papers to 5 Star in Parksville on Saturday, but maybe on Sunday (the 23rd) we could drive back up to the Duncan area for a bit of a toodle down whatever dirt roads might be in your neck of the woods. What say you?
