From Japan with love

Post by marsgal42 »

I've just confirmed shipping and delivery on a 1992 Delica Super Exceed, expected arrival in Vancouver at the end of August, taking delivery once the compliance and inspection stuff is done. My second choice was a Subaru Outback. Nice car, but nowhere nearly as cool as a Delica.

The Delica is to replace a 1986 VW Jetta. It's served me well, but I want something I can haul cameras and telescopes and stuff around in a bit more easily. Besides, the Jetta just rolled over 315,000 km, and it's starting to get tired.

Counting the days

Post by marsgal42 »

As I count the days I'm seeing what else I can come up with in preparation for The Big Day.

Some time in the next couple of weeks I'm planning to pay a call on Shogo to take some measurements. The entrance to my apartment parkade uses an RFID tag, and I need to see how far a reach it is from a Delica driver's seat. And, if necessary, whomp up something to extend my reach.

My copy of "Mitsubishi L300 Petrol & Diesel 1987-1992 Owner's Repair Guide" is on its way from an outfit in Australia. I've always done the regular maintenance on my Jetta; I see no reason to change when the Delica arrives. I'll just need to swap my timing light for a dial indicator.

Somebody in the neighbourhood (Burnaby) already has a Delica. It's often parked on Halifax Street, just east of Duthie. Hi!
