Dog quarters.

Post by georgeofthejungle »

Hello All.

I'm a pretty new forum member and pretty smug L300 owner.

In order to prepare for a trip last fall through the Chilcotin and onto Bella Coola with my fiance, my parents and 2 dogs - I had to do some quick seating modifications for ease of packing and interior comfort. Mainly I wanted to keep dirty dogs off the seats and still maximize cargo room.

So.. I took out the bench seat and slapped some 2by4's and plywood together to make a raised platform. A piece of old cargo netting is secured on by a bungie cord to the hand holds, the curtain frame, and also a suction cup hook on each of the windows. There is also a small lip on the far end of the plywood to prevent dog beds or crates sliding into the vans interior.

As a prototype it's worked really well. My only issue is that the netting is a pain to take down and in the event of a head-on our dogs will still fly forward like guided missiles.

I wondered what other solutions Delica dog owners have come up with?

One of the easiest methods I use is to flip the bech seat in the back up, then flip the backs of the bench seat up as well - so it basically forms a wall using your seats.
Can't see shyte out the back window but worked well and no mods needed.

nice mods.

I own a newfoundland dog, I use metal wire crate because whenever I don't use, it can folds and shrug behind the rear seats. Whenever my dog gets muddy or dirty, I just fold both rear seat up and set up the crate for him in my L400. I guess the crate smaller than mine(giant size) would only need half rear seat up. Also it can be place anywhere inside whenever it suits you.
Cheers
