Help with banking transfer to Samurai Garage

Post by ilananaimo »

Hello,

Hidehiko (Samurai Garage) found a Delica for me and I am trying to transfer the money to him. I am working with the Coastal Community Credit Union, and have given them all the banking info that Hidehiko refered me to at: http://www.geocities.jp/samurai_garage50/export3/

The lady at the bank is telling me that she is missing information on the specific branch. That none of the branches listed on her computer meet the address or branch number given on the page Hidehiko refered me to.

Does anyone on this forum have anymore info than what is on that page?
I need to send this money a.s.a.p. or I will lose my Delica...

Cheers,
Ilan

Does Hidehiko speak any English?

Has anyone ever spoken with Hidehiko on the phone? I am thinking of calling him this evening, but wonder if he'll understand me (and me him) over the phone...

Hi Ilan,

When I transferred money to Hidehiko, I had to get the gal to make a few phone calls for the same reason, then she just completed a wire transfer form. No computer needed. Then Hidehiko receives the money 2 to 3 business days. This worked each time, I just let him know the money was on the way.

Good luck.

hi ilan, coastal in nanaimo is useless. i spent 45 minutes in there with no luck. the credit union here on gabriola has done it 4 times already maybe more. it takes about 10 minutes to do. it might be worth the trip over. i also tried hsbc out at woodgrove with the same response. my friend adam just ordered another one and sent money on friday from here on gabriola. i can't see why you would need to talk to hidehiko on the phone. his english on the emails is an indication of what it would be like talking to him.
call me if you need some more help

I am interested in doing the same thing. How did the process work buying from this company? did you save enough to make it worth it or would it be better to just buy one through a place like JDM?

I am still in the process. My Delica arrives in Canada today, and I hope to have it in my hands in a week and a half. As for the money, it would seem that I am going to be saving a fair chunk of change, but I don't want to say too much until I have finished clearing customs and the BC inspection.
As for Samurai Garage, so far I highly recommend them!

Did you contact Samurai Garage and tell them exactly what you wanted In a delica? Did they find what you wanted and then send you pictures and details before you sent them the money?

That is correct. I basically asked for a manual transmission, diesel, 4x4 Delica, upto 150,000km, auction grade 3 or higher, for upto 400,000YEN delivered in New West.
Because I asked for manual transmission, it took a few weeks. Automatics take much less.

Depending on what I need to do to pass the BC inspection, I expect to pay another 1000-1500 for clearing customs and all the official stuff including whatever needs changing or fixing after the inspection.

You shouldn't get your hopes to high, I have seen some vans come over with that kind and mileage and they needed a lot of work. There was a delica at my garage that looked like crap, black smoke bellowing out like a coal furnace.

I had talk with Hidehiko about this when I bought mine and it seems that because of the delica's popularity the good ones go for at least 495000 yen.

Don't forget you'll need new head lights $350.00.

I went for the higher end of the price scale for mine and so did the another guy that shared the shipping container with me and the result was great, the inspection facility said "these are two Vans are in mint condition, the best I've seen".

It really is the roll of the dice, yesterday I met some one who got screwed for $4000.00 in repairs to pass the inspection and he was a SG client.

I hope it works out for you but you do get what you pay for.
Cheers.
