What's the cost once the vehicle is in New West port?

Post by ilananaimo »

Hello, Ilan here.
I just discovered this forum (thanks Kevin). I am about to import a Delica through Hidehiko (Samurai Garage).
Once the car is in New West, what can I expect to pay to release it into my hands? I am going to be using an import broker as I am self employed and have no time to handle the beurocracy myself.

Anyone out there have time to give me a neighborhood estimate, according to what you paid?

Cheers,
Ilan

hi ilan, you don't own the thirsty camel do you? anyway. i would reccommend courtney agencies in vancouver. talk with paul. they charge about 600 which includes everything but pick up fee from the dock. the docking charges are about 150 if there are no delays. my friend here on gabriola also used them and he was charged a bit more but didn't have to pick it from the dock but a warehouse instead. make sure you take a window razer blade with you for all the writing on the windows. check the oil, water level and all the running lights. there will be a bit of fuel but not much. they tend to have charged batteries in them as well. any other questions let me know i am just across the water.

Hey,

I do own the Thirsty Camel, yeah. Thanks for the info Paul. I will call Courtney Agencies in Vancouver. Just waiting for Hidehiko to tell me that he got the Delica. He's supposed to be bidding on it today. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the info and the tips. I can't wait to get my Delica and convert it to WVO.

Cheers,
Ilan

hi ilan, we met at heron and ila's place. my wife and i do the bread here on gabriola. we are in the process of building a wood fired oven at our place. should be ready late this year early next. when it closer to the date of arrival i will contact you at the thirsty camel and let you know of someone in nanaimo that does the bc registration part real easy. those are a few costs i didn't mention icbc etc. basically there isn't much left of 1000 when all is said and done.

Thanks again Paul. Heron just mentioned you a couple of weeks ago. Not by name, but I asked him about the eggs and he said he supplies a lot to someone who is a baker on the island and is building a wood fired baking oven... Funny that.
