Can we see a picture of the whole front end, I think I want one. My only concern is with the extra coverage in front how much will it effect cooling?

I believe that was part of the design process with input from people in hot places (like Australia) who have similar designs and no overheating issues.

See page 14, not exactly the same but it sits the same. Combine that view with Fexlboi's picture and you should get a good idea of what it looks like.

By the way, how long before we are creating an independent website for this thread alone?

Who would have thought! It's already getting to be the joke of the forum!

Fexlboi, you must have really big fat fingers 'cause it was quite an easy install for me. Could be that my truck was on a hoist? In all, it probably took me 5 min. to put it up, just start a few bolts so it stays in place and slowly work you way. The trick with the lower passenger side bolt is to position your wrench with it's "tail" facing the driver's side it that makes sense.

It's not the stongest/best design but we had a decent template, it does the job and anything more complicated would have been a lot pricier. I had the thinner plate before (same design) bashed it really good on many occasions and it held real good so this one will be even better. The bottom attachment is actually quite strong and will keep this plate where it belongs...

Now, do we really need to keep the joke going? I mean, who needs p.17 ?!?

Cheers,
David

Hi all! I just installed my skid plate and it fit great. However, warmland89 was at my house with his '89 and there is no way it would have fit his. There is no place for the back two bolts and the bends are not right. So if you have an '89 and are wanting one of these maybe check first. I am not sure if it is an '89 thing or maybe some vans are slightly different.

Thanks again to Isaac and David!

Hey there. I just put one on an '88 van for shaun yesterday and it fit fantastic !! The only problem i ran into was the front passenger side bolt was a tight fit with AC thing in the way.

I will do some investigating ! I cannot believe that 89 would be an odd ball !! lol's

cheers isaac

I'll take a picture when I get a chance. We were replacing his clutch in my shop on the weekend so I thought I would figure out where the skid plate attaches on his. The front two bolts were right but the back two where not. I thought maybe it was me so I went to see what mine looked like and it slide right into place. It was totally obvious how it attached and fit, but not with Tom's. Weird!

I second that request. I'm in Calgary, and also have a skidplate (and manual hubs) a-waiting. I also see Jungle Jon is on the list, also in Calgary.

So that's 2 for Calgary, 1 for Edmonton. (And I'll be going to Edmonton at the end of January, could transport from Calgary to Edmonton easily.)

:-D GOT IT! :-D
We were planing to go to Victoria this wknd and to pick it up at ccautos on the way though, but Nellie-dog barfed all down the inside of the bus between the bench-seat and the wall just as we left the driveway  Oh Gawd, what an epic - out with all the stuff, the seat had to be unbolted and dragged out and the floor had to come up and the wall vent removed - 2 1/2 hours later and we were ready to go again, but little dog was still sick (all night too :-( ) so we aborted / postponed the trip. I emailed Glen to let him know we would no longer be popping by and a few minutes later he replied saying he would be delivering a Pajero to Courtney in the evening and would bring my plate along if I cared to motor down and meet him. Happy day, I get my plate and still get a little trip in the bus! I felt like Philip Marlow at a stakeout as I waited at the foggy rendezvous under the Hwy. overpass watching for a Pajero coming my way; the only thing missing were the cigarettes, the bottle of whiskey, and the .38 in the glove box 8-) Thanks again for delivering it Glen, much appreciated.
So this morning I got out there under the bus and bolted it on. It was a little tricky, but not too bad. I ended up removing the rubber strip along the base that is held on with 8mm bolts so the plate lies flush and not on the little bolts. The attachment bolts on the driver's side were a piece of cake, but the passenger side were more work, esp. the one at the front. It took a little finessing and careful pre-placement of the washer and nut inside the upper pan - and several attempts... :? but it's all bolted on and ready for those nasty pointed sticks and brush! Thanks again to all involved in the design, production, and delivery of these things - It's great so many of us have them now - kinda like a mitsumaple or delica.ca sticker! :-D

Has anyone had problem fitting their skid plate on a Chamonix model? I'm asking 'cause a Chamonix owner just told me it didn't fit so I'm very curious to know what's the issue...

Thanks,
