My question is how do we appeal this? who do we contact for a petition before the rates are rasied for no reason other than one guys greed. I heard he is on the board of icbc and has already made some claims were illegal?

icbc increases
So i went to icbc to renew my insurance and the girl was so excited that it was a right hand drive for some reason, she told me i was her first.;) She then told me that icbc is doing studies to see if rhd vehicles are a high risk for accidents. She also heavily suggested that pattison had a lot to do with this as rhd effects his monstrous sales (joke). Personally i have been driving a rhd for 4 years and never even come close to an accident, other than in richmond, which is normal for any driver.

I would change the title of your thread. It's misleading and will cause people to think our rates are going up.
b) if you are her 'first' and she was that 'excited', then she has no idea what she's talking about.
She's a few years late. Pattison story is old news.
Over the past 4 years, our rates went down. Just the opposite to what she told you.

It was already done a few years ago.beastboy wrote:My question is how do we appeal this? who do we contact for a petition before the rates are rasied for no reason other than one guys greed. I heard he is on the board of icbc and has already made some claims were illegal?

she said they are doing a study on rhd drive now and next year rates might change. I guess they had better change the post office and garbage collection too ;)

Re: icbc increases
same thing up here in PG. i asked if the rates were going up and she said no, that they were just doing a study to see how many of RHDs are out there and how many get in accidents. if it is more likely then LHD to crash it will most likely cost more in the future. makes sense really.
for some reason my insurance here is almost a 100 bucks cheaper then in whistler. which is odd seeing the population is much higher, driving conditions are worse, and people break into cars regularly here.

Funny that. For those of us living north of the Oyster River bridge (Campbell River and the rest of North Vancouver Island) rates are the highest in the provincepatty wrote:for some reason my insurance here is almost a 100 bucks cheaper then in whistler.

Re: icbc increases
They did a study last year and it showed that RHD vehicles were more likely to get into an accident that LHD vehicles. It turns out that the study compared RHD drivers age 16 to age 21 and measured it against all LHD drivers. I suspect it was a mistake
. I think we should study the new report when it comes out, just in case there is another mistake.

Re: icbc increases
They also found that drivers of (RHD) powerful sports cars were more likely to have accidents than drivers of (LHD) small family sedans. Both made by Nissan, both with two doors, so the Skyline and the Sentra must be comparable!

Re: icbc increases
How many people between 16-21 own delicas or pajero's? Afriend of mine worked for an insurance co. and they had a chart that the highest rate of accidents was in richmond. why not raise the rates there?FalcoColumbarius wrote:They did a study last year and it showed that RHD vehicles were more likely to get into an accident that LHD vehicles.
