Re: BLOCK HEATERS
Thanks Glenn,
Always nice to have this kind of help on this site, might suck a bit for other vendors but that's the name of the game.
Brass vs. Steel, pros and cons? And how much for your install?
Thx,
David

Re: BLOCK HEATERS
Brass ones don`t corrode as bad as the steel ones but they are getting hard to find as Temro disposed of the casting molds and no longer produce them . Steel ones are getting in more plentiful supply and are being kept in greater numbers by the `big guys` (Napa,Lordco) .
When we install them I quote two hours plus any coolant used . That equates to $150 labor and approx $19 coolant .

Is there a threaded hole where it gets screwed into or is it in-line with the coolant hose? Is this a driveway job? Any pictures?robinimpey wrote:Frost plug type. Goes in the block behind the starter.

Re: BLOCK HEATERS
If your having any problems, I would first reach down and check to see if the cord came off the block heater, when you had it installed the installer might not have put the cord on very tight. There really isent anything to go wrong with a block heater, its a simple element.

Don't want to steel anyone's thunder but I found those heater plugs at Lordco using Glen's part number and if you have an account they are about $25 each...
