From my opinion, if the injection pump leaks, there is no need to recalibrate the pump on the machine if the engine runs well. We do a lot of diesel calibration in Manila, Philippines (being authorized by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines to do all their engine machining and diesel pump calibration) as the driving conditions there is on the extreme side. Even the quality of the diesel and extreme outdoor temperatures affects the internal parts of the injection pump. There are a number of shims that wears down and thus contributes to the enrichment of fuel during operation. Bringing the adjustsments of these shims back to original specifications will bring the pump back to standard. To make the story short, the delica's and pajero coming from Japan were generally not subjected to such extreme driving conditions (ie. traffic, dust, extreme outside temperatures, fuel quality) which would merit a complete recalibration of the pump in this case. Basic replacement of seals and o-rings and washers is all thats needed to solve the initial problem of the injection pump - leaks.
We hope this Anniversay Sale can help out and improve the performance and economy of our ever reliable 4D56 diesel engine.
