Chilliwack River Camping

Post by vanjuggler »

I just got back from a great weekend camping on the Chilliwack River. We found a camp after dark on Friday night between the Chipmunk and Rapids forest service sites right by the river. On saturday, we went out to drive to the base of mt. Cheam. But we actually took a different FSR and climbed a different mountain! This road had some really steep sections and some really crazy climbs. Only scraped the front and back a few times - the delica's clearance is so great! On sunday, we packed up camp and drove up the correct rode and some of our group hiked Mt Cheam.

We had 2 problems with Mr. Delica on this trip, despite being totally awesome. During the climbs, we overheated several times. Check out this picture:

We stopped at my parent's new house in Abbotsford for dinner, and while rolling out of the driveway we noticed the rear passenger tire was flat! Fortunately we had the full size spare, and the extra tools my father provided. Turns out I'm missing an allen key to take the caps off of my rear wheels, and the stock lug wrench didn't fit into the spare tire! So I'll be picking up those pieces pretty soon. What a great place to have a flat tire!

Anyways, it was a great weekend.

Nice pictures, Vanjuggler ~ I like the panoramic one. So some of the terrain was pretty gnarly, eh?
