Whistler Mountain bike park
Hey everyone, this last weekend I went up to whistler for the opening of the bike park, Im heading back up there for this weekend, the 23rd, is anyone else interested in going?
I'm going up there with my welder and maybe a couple others, so if anyone wants to meet up or do some riding, let me know.

Re: Whistler Mountain bike park
well the lift tickets are on sale right now until june something, and a hotel Next to the chair lift is $89, so that split between two people in a room is afordable. and last weekend we camped just down the road, for $15/night. other than the boat ride over its actually pretty affordable for some of the best downhill riding in Canada. Last weekend was AMAZING, saw a few bears on the hill, Sat was a tottal mud bowl day, sunday was amazing, Monday was rainy so to slick on the rocks for this old man.I guess I dont heal as fast as I did when i was 30, or 32 or 34..... oh well , if anyone wants to convoy up or meet for lunch up there let me know.

Re: Whistler Mountain bike park
ya it isn't hugely expensive hell you can get lift tickets and hotel for $75 per person per night (for at least 2) and the room has a kitchen so you bring your own food! I will think about it but with how tight money is now and how little time I have I think I will wait a little longer. I don't know, I'm thinking about it though, I will look at the numbers and see if I have the time. If I was on WVO already I would be in for sure.

Re: Whistler Mountain bike park
ya that certainly helps, Im running straight bio diesel in my cruiser only down side is I dont have the second tank built for it yet so I can only run 80 liters, not enough to get up there drive around and all the way back home. but close. I supose I could do it all the way there and back, but i would be close to out and I would rather put some in than get that close to empty, Priming diesels is a P.I.T.A. on the side of the road...

Re: Whistler Mountain bike park
Hey Jessy, i will forward the pm info in a bit, "aparantly" its pond day, yard mantenance day... I have a Norco A Line , like the run, with Marazatchi tripple crown front shocks, hayes hydrolic brakes, michilin tires, Down hill tires, not the combo street ones, I think 2 days on pavement and my tires would be balder than I am hahaha, danger boy levers, all in all, a pretty good downhill bike, bad for riding at heartland as its a killer to push or try and ride up hill but at whistler or mountains with lifts, its feels like a cross between a cadilac and a ferrari. Comfy, quick, agressive and very durable.
I just bought my new body armour today, so im all excited, we are catching the ferry on friday, staying next to the lift, so Its going to be amazing riding.

Nice.
When I ride it's an 06 black Aline. M triples. pretty much stock. He's been good to me. It takes all the harsh stuff quite nicely.
black shorts, green longsleeve shirt. black full armor head to toe (I end up going down things I shouldn't)
I ride 99% of the time at above mid around Garbonzo.
Goat's gully, freight train, schleyer, sidetrack, o sin, clown shoes down below. It's all good.
See you up there.

Re: Whistler Mountain bike park
nice, I love A-lines, if I could have 2 bikes I would have an a-line on the short list for a dh/park bike. Right now I'm on an 04 bullit, new code 5 brakes but not much else worth mentioning. She is tough though and I can pedal it up most stuff.
Monday I was at Tzou with a buddy and we ran into some XC rider in the parking lot (spandex, no pads, one on a niner hardtail, clipped in type xc) and they showed us a single track route to the top and I kept up nicely I think. I can't wait to be able to get a new bike though. I would imagine I'll end up with a Shore but the Scythe is a nice bike too. If I won the lottery I would get a Knolly, ok I'd get one of each Knolly, they are so nice but out of my price range.

tell me about it, I know a guy that had the head tube rip off his last bike and pass paralyzed for 20 minutes so he went all out and got a Knolly with all world cup parts on it, was $10,000

Re: Whistler Mountain bike park
I used to like riding "Downhill" back in the 80's when all mtn. bikes were rigid - all that stuff would be XC by today's standards! - $10,000.00
And I thought the 3 grand I dropped on my Kona XC ride was a big investment and a big improvement over the 'ole Ritchie. Cool how the sport has evolved. Have fun up there - and hey, if any of you ever want some great old school XC Snowden in Campbell River is some of the best!!

Happy Day!

Lov'in the downhill talk - though I'm more of a slower North Van technical kind of rider myself. Still love to get to Whistler a couple of times per year. Here's the vids from a couple of years back - not the best riding, but remember...I'm 42!!!! Started mountainbiking during summer of expo 86...so that tells you something! Still loving it but taking things a hell of alot easier now. Wicked rides to all of you and keep the rubber side down whatever 2 wheel fun you may be into......funny how mountain biking and deli's just go hand in hand????

I love the shore, did it for the first time last month, 11 of us from the island got shown around by Noel from Knolly bikes and some of his guys as well as some guys from trident and manitou, was a stellar day, wet but man that wood is still grippy in the wet with all the sand that gets pushed into the grain.

Re: Whistler Mountain bike park
I was looking at the new A lines up at whistler last weekend, they have my mind going, I really need to stay out of that shop or im going to need a extra spot on my bike rack, and then it really would be an expensive trip.
we had to do a couple of repairs to the Atomics my welder and his son have, seems they a weak spot just behind the bottom bracket , something to look at on all the downhill bikes, we welded them up and re-inforced them, I guess thats a bonus to having a tig welder in the basement.
we are leaving here on Friday afternoon looking for a hotel right around garbonzo,
I dont think i could ever justify 10G on a bike, but then again I have alot of other toys.
well hope to see some of you up there.
