So... to recap. The camping will be at Snow Creek on Sprout Lake then? What nights are people showing up there? I might be able to come up there for a night or two.

I will probably show up, and it will probably be friday the 16th after work. I'll get the girlfriend to agree in writing and make a ferry reservation. I figure if I leave horseshoe bay around 5pm I can get to the campsite before dark? We will be continuing on to tofino probably sometime saturday probably, but we are making it up as we go along.

We are heading out Tuesday on a 5 ferry, sleeping where ever the first night. Wenesday we'll head out to long beach then back to Snow Creek. But if there are plans to head to the west coast before Saturday then we'll explore and fish the Sprout Lake area instead. We have an open schedule and plan to go home early Saturday; and remember diesel costs aren't a factor for us. Did that sound too nah nah nah or what.
Cheers,
Kev

Nah we just have a very busy summer so I have to get things set in stone or she will decide we are doing other non-camping things :)BCDelica wrote:20 years happily together with the right person so figure that's a typo, right?coaxial wrote:I'll get the girlfriend to agree in writing
Thanks for reminding me I'll need to go see a loan agent at my bank to see if I can afford a weekend of drivingBCDelica wrote: and remember diesel costs aren't a factor for us. Did that sound too nah nah nah or what.

If you're leaving Nanaimo 5ish, and you don't stop at Costco, should be about a 2.5 hour trip to the campsite. We'll try to put up signs at the turnoff for the campsite.coaxial wrote:I will probably show up, and it will probably be friday the 16th after work. Looking into it. Talking with the crew of the Tardisdeli as I type. BTW, someone mentioned being at the North end of Sproat Lake. Looking at the map I see Sproat lake runs east west..... where is Snow Creek? Would you happen to know the longitude/latitude?

Re: Deli Camp - May Long Weekend?
Hi Kathy et al,
Just to say several of us here are thinking about doing this trip (Delicat, FalcoColumbarius, TardisDeli, etc). Your trip sounds great, and looking forward to putting faces to online names.
Problem is ferry reservations are already (ALREADY ! But it is more than a week in advance !) full for Friday (except some room still on the 6:30 am ferry). So now need to check getting extra vacation days.
I Really don't fancy sleeping in Ferry terminals awaiting broken down ferries and no-show captains and missing cotter pins etc. So, we're still assessing the options.
We'll keep in touch.
Cheers, Christine.
PS: Note: I Found there IS still space on Thursday and Friday on the Tsawassen to Nanaimo Duke Point run (takes 2 hours vs 1.5 hrs on Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo run). And Thursday last departure from Tsawassen is 10:45 pm, arrival 12:45 am. Same price for both routes. $43.00 for vehicle up to and including 7feet, $13.oo for each driver and each adult, reservation $15.00, and 15 cents for Nanaimo dock fee. So $84.15 each way for the TardisDeli & Crew, $168.30 return. Ouch. Maybe time to make amphibious delica.

Re: Deli Camp - May Long Weekend?
sorry, that was geographically challenged me at my best! I should have said it is at the top end of Sproat Lake, not the north end. Top end being as opposed to the bottom (Near Port Alberni).FalcoColumbarius wrote:Looking into it. Talking with the crew of the Tardisdeli as I type. Also, looking forward to meeting other deli folk. The weather looks promising, maybe the snow will even be all melted up there, tho we've cleared snow to camp there before, although that was the end of March/beginning of April.

Just to give you a rough idea, thanks to Coaxial's co-ordinates.
