New owner

Post by BobKat »

At last... I made a decision and bought a Delica. Couldn't deside between a Chamonix or Super Exceed so I got both! It is a 1992 Super Exceed with a Chamonix exterior with the chrome package, dual batteries, LSD but with the Super Exceed captain seats and crystal light roof.
Whew,,, glad thats over. It has an aluminum roof rack too but I'll put it on when I need it.

When I got it the dealer also put on new tires and mag wheels... many thanks to Grant at Tyee in Campbell River.

Welcome aboard. Very nice set-up with the super exceed interior, side outlet exhaust, LSD and I like the bull bar up front. Enjoy.

So what's the story behind your dual personality Delica? I've seen it for sale on Tyee's site ans always wonder why it had the outer Chamonix but with Crystallite roof along with the SuperExceed interior... Seems like you're getting the best of both worlds!

Enjoy!

Wow lot of custom extras on there, looks awesome! the brush guard, grill, exhaust, chrome fender guards, mirrors, windshield tint, dual wiper blades, spoilers, handle guards, and wheels are all very nice, I'm jealous :o

Does is have any added suspension or skid plates?

That's not a chamonix... someone just put decals on that say that... and from what I can tell... they aren't factory ones either...

so who knows why they called it something it isn't...

Either way though, it's a nice looking Delica!

Bruce (Mystery Machine) had chamonix decals added by his dealer way back when because the dealer didn't know any better. All of the other options you listed are available on the super exceed, basically the determining factor really is the bench seat vs the captains chairs. I like my bench seat. I can take more people, and its not like im sitting back there.

Nice ride - and unusual too!

As the others have said - it is a S/Exceed with some genuine Chamonix decals down the side. (they should have an almost holographic effect??)

The wing mirrors are actually from a 2WD van and might be electric? (they should be electric, but some people don't wire them up when they stick them on the 4WD!) They look like the ones that some of the 2WD Super Exceed's came with

The front bull bar is by a Jap tuning firm called Kaddis and so is the middle guard/bash plate. (VERY rare!!)

The fog lamps look like IPF or PIAA - difficult to tell from the photo? If they are either, then they are VERY expensive! (approx $600 pair!)

The ladder is by 4x4 Engineering (fairly rare!)

The following items are from the genuine Mitsubishi accessory range (i.e. L300 specific but not standard spec)
Rear high roof spoiler (RARE!)
Chrome fender thingies?? (we call them arches!) (fairly unusual)
Door handle protectors (fairly common)
Stripes under the rear window (never seen set other than in the brochure!)
'B' Pillar covers (not rare or common!)

The wipers, windsheild tint, side exit exhaust, RalliArt & EGR stickers are all 'added' by the owner as well...

The rear nudge bar (bumper bar) is missing and it looks like the previous owner tried to park it in a low level parkade with the roof rack still on (look at the 3 x buckles in the roof gutter)

Overall a lovely looking motor with some unusual and some very rare accessories!

Enjoy it......I know I would if I were you.

P.S. Adam - there are at least 3 versions of the L300 that came in 8 seater (Jasper, GLX, Chamonix) but only the Chamonix had the mega hard wearing seats and the violent patterned carpet.....
L300 Mystery Machine (High Altitude Edition 8-) )
