Proudly Delica'ious

Post by Profister »

Dear Ladies and Gentelemen,

I am introducing 1992 Delica Chamonix, 72K which found her (or his; we did not decide yet) a new home in North Vancouver. Overall I am happy with the deal but as it was mentioned before on this forum you have to do your homework... Next day after having the first ride to Squamish Valley to test my new toy in snow it had a front caliper piston seisure and I had to bring it back to the dealer for a free repair (the tow truck from Vancouver was $110). I am going to replace the original dual radio/player unit with a single new one this upcoming Saturday and next Saturday I have an appointment with Butch in CVI for a 'Delica tune-up' to make sure I am not expecting any major surprises in the near future.
I was going to join the ride with the rest of you this Sturday but it looks like I am not technically ready yet.
See you later this season.

Well met and welcome! Is that green-over-grey or dark-grey-over-silver?

I never noticed before: not only does it say 'Chamonix' on the stickers on the side, but also on the bull-bar on the front of the vehicle. Cool!

Actually it looks more like black-over-bronze to me. The interior is pretty clean but I am going to give it a good professional wash because when my wife took the clean looking curtains off and put them into the bath tab with some detergent added the water turned black.

Same thing happened when we washed our 'clean' curtains. Lucienne has a very sensitive nose, and she thought the vehicle had been smoked in (I smoked for nearly 20 years, so I can't smell a damn thing usually), and the curtains were anything but clean. :o

I am working on a DEL- light sign issue at the moment and will post a report with pictures when it is done.

Do you have the light bar in the rear? Interesting, because the consensus seemed to be only the Super Exceeds have those. Am I to understand you have a "DEL---" or do you have the "---ICA"?

Yes, there is a light bar at the rear and I needed to replace the 'DEL' bulb. I already replaced it and mounted in the socket but I did not have time to mount the whole thing back on the tail gate.

So are you saying the you had to remove the exterior garnish to replace the bulbs? I understood that access was gained through the interior tailgate cover (the cover through which the inside latch protrudes).

I took this cover off, which didn't reveal much so I assumed I didn't have the light feature. However when I squint behind the garnish itself from the outside I think I see a thin wire which I assumed was related to lighting. However I didn't want to remove this garnish unless for good reason.

thanks,

The lights for the 'Delica-bar' are accessed from inside the rear gate. Remove the panel on the rear door, peel back the plastic sheeting and the lights will be visible. Use a long flat screwdriver or a small putty knife to 'pop' the panel off the door.
