Rear Heat control question

Post by tomaboyd »

91 L300

Getting colder in the great Northwet so I started messing with the rear heater control. Here is what I found;

If I have the "mixed" or "upper" vents selected I only get cold air. No matter what "temp" I have set. The only way I get any heat is if I select the "floor" vents.

Just wondering if this is std operation. Before I start tearing things apart.

Thanks.

That's correct. It's stupid, but normal. Heat only comes out the floor vents. In "mixed" mode you'll find cold air comes out the top vents, hot out the lower ones.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

I posted the same question a few years back. It is kinda stupid, but heat does rise. So that may be why it's only operational when you have the lever set to push air out from the floor vents. Out it comes and up she goes.............
