I thought your turbine wheel was buggered. How did you fix it?

When I tried to seperate the casing from the manifold part, I made some dents on the rings. So when I tried to put it back, it would not close properly. So I just use a file and remove the dents and voila! The turbine was spinning without touchin the casing!
When facing a situation\problem that I could not fix, I'd just walk away, have a beer and come back to the problem and eventually fix it!

For someone like me, this post was very helpful, but it was not detailed enough on the step by step on how to remove the turbo parts. But again it took me some times and lots of beer to figure out the whole thing.

Just curious, my vacuum lines are pretty roughed up and I was hoping to replace them, note the braided vacuum lines from the turbo that go to waste-gate & injection pump, does anyone know what ID" or OD" vacuum lines I need? Possibly braided again is a good idea, i'm assuming it's heat retardent.

Commonly used on VW vans so it's possible to source the braided hose.

Hey, I'm in the process of removing my turbo, and the information all over the forum is really helpful! I'm down to the four nuts on the waste-gate/turbo mating surface and MAN are they stuck. I haven't had this kind of resistance anywhere yet. I tried impact ratchet, and my breaker bar but I thought I would ask any advice before I start breaking or burning things.. thanks! :)

Hey, in an extremely embarrassing event, I have washed away my alignment marks. Permanent marker is no longer permanent. Shame.

Embarrassment aside... I called around to ask about balancing but nobody in town does this, apparently Vancouver is the place to go..

Before I ship anything off grudgingly, I am curious if anyones knows WHEN these are assembled, and they balance the wheels, they have to take the compressor side off to re balance it.. so they must make a small score or a mark or something for when they reassemble it, yeah?

Does anyone know anything about this? My compressor wheel has two small semi-circle cutouts on the circumference of the disc and a deep score in the flat bottom part... I was thinking this score may possibly relate to alignment, but finding something to line it up with is very tricky. My dad thinks the super tiny "possible" scoring on the shaft, which does appear to be man-made, is intended for this.
