1993 Pajero LWB 2.8 Having transmission shifting problems since September. Once the vehicle is hot it will not shift down to 1st so I have to manually shift into L and back to D once I'm rolling. Took it to shop, had 2 temp sensors (2 pins) replaced but it didn't help. Had AT filter and fluid changed. They couldn't figure it out. It behaved better during the cold weather in Dec/Jan but is worse again now that it's warmer. After a month or so driving like that, it began to drop out of OD after about 10 minutes highway driving. I could only reach 105 km/h at about 3000 rpm when usually it used go 120 km/h easy. Yesterday the AT temp light came on and stayed steady about 10 minutes into the trip. Today the AT temp light again so I'm worried i'm overheating the AT fluid. Checked AT fluid and it seems to be full but clear pink (not cherry red). didn't notice a smell. I'm not sure what to do or what could be the cause.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Mark

Auto tranny's are all basically the same. Any good tranny shop should be able to diagnose the issue(s) regardless of this being a Pajero.
From what you have described here (and I don't know why you started a new string on this as its a good update to your earlier string) I still say you have a possible mechanical issue.
The front pump (not the same as your torque converter) provides hydraulic pressure onto the clutch packs which provides the friction to engage each gear in the tranny. If pressure can't be maintained then the clutch packs will slip and this equates to a loss of forward momentum. Leave it long enough and the clutch packs will burn which will turn your tranny fluid dark red/brown and it will stink of burned oil.
Take your Pajero to Steven@Rising Sun Imports (New Westminster) or Butch at CVI (in Richmond).
A quick pressure test of the transmission system (a hydraulic pressure gauge is installed at a key output point) and they can tell you if the pump is producing enough pressure or not. If its got good pressure the techs can narrow the problem from there to a bad connection, a bad valve body in the tranny or a bad sensor..even ones that just got changed....(not very likely but it has potential).
It could also be that your clutch packs are simply wore out and they need changing. AKA TRANNY-REBUILD

Yeah I joined the Dark Side because the medical plan is top shelf!
