Im a little put off when everyone gets mad at Steven for offering help and then another dealer (mardy) does the same thing. To keep things fair you shouldn't be saying call me.

Part of the original reason d'etre of Delica Canada was to hear from the dealers when you needed something. This doesn't mean that the dealers should slander one and other and everyone is going to have an opinion. Of course when one makes a statement, then another opinion could come into play, this is a fundamental aspect of dialectic intercourse. Through the past few years there have been a few opinionated Delica moments, but shucks, ain't it great to read a respectful technical discussion that includes the opinions of actual diesel mechanics? We have some talent in Delica Canada, along with some speculation from talented people whom have not been formally trained but for that reason may see things in a fresh light that could be overlooked by formal protocol.

Seriously, you are looking for a part that you've not been successful in finding so you put it up to the forum and you get responses from Mardy, Steven, Sabbir or Glen &c., that they have some in stock... is there really a problem with that? Is that not what you were looking for in the first place?

I have a Starwagon with Rancho 9000's and after five years of driving through pretty much every terrain, save dunes, I report that my experience has been very satisfactory. The Starwagon has a different suspension to the Space Gear. With or without shock absorbers, the Starwagon will float like a boat, it's the nature of the beast. One thing I like about my shock system is the "My Ride" blue tooth interface. If there is a strong cross wind I can stiffen them up on the fly, or slacken them off ~ say for instance if I find myself driving on a road in North Van which is just like going down a forest service road, only without the scree! Eventually I will need to replace the shocks as they get old and start to leak, more, but you know ~ with a compressor that keeps boosting the shocks to the required pressure ~ they work fine. One thing I did was install an on/off switch for the shock system for when I turn the power off so as not to drain the batteries.

By the way, one option is if you enter your VIN into the respective JDM Online Catalogue field, which can be found in Useful Links for Vehicle Part Identification Purposes/Delica FAQ Section. It will give you the OEM number for your specific Delica. For shocks one would look under the "suspension" categories. Once you have this you should be able to cross reference to the appropriate brand that speaks to you... smiles.

So I called a mitsubishi dealer here in winnipeg with the part number provided and at first he was a little confused. He then asked if it was a right hand drive and I said yeah cause I am not trying to hide what I drive. He then quoted me at $529.52 per shock!! So I have now contacted a few BC dealers to see what they can provide. If their price is super high as well cause of shipping then I guess I will go with the procomps cause I have no other part numbers to go off of.

That is out of order. That's like coming up to a complete stranger and insulting his mother for no reason. I went to a Mitsubishi dealership in North Van one day. I asked for stuff, they wouldn't give me anything saying that these were foreign vehicles, &c., &c., I told him that Mitsubishi Japan guarantees that any Mitsubishi Dealership in the world will work on your Mitsubishi vehicle. He told me that they were Mitsubishi Canada, not Mitsubishi Japan. They are no longer in business, hmm. Something to do with the colour of my money.

Your information is wrong.

Most Mitsubishi dealers here will not touch a JDM because they do not exist in Mitsubishi Canada's system. This is normal and to shun the dealer because of that is comical.

It would be the same if you drove a Toyota Camry into a Bentley dealer and asked them to rebuild the transmission.

Mitsubishi unfortunately does not have worldwide parts/service support across their entire fleet.

Nissan, however does offer global support for example. You can walk into a Nissan dealer here and order any part from a JDM Nissan vehicle you bought or imported from Japan.

re:shocks - The last time I got a quote for a set of Mitsubishi ECS genuine shocks it came out to $1,340 all in for four. The dealer said that quote includes the initial cost from Japan, shipping to Canada, customs, fees and dealer markup as the part is a special order and not listed in Mitsubishi Canada's parts cat.

You would be better off to have someone order them in the UK or Europe and ship them directly to you, bypassing the dealer and export fees from Japan.

Yes that is a problem.

That is the crack in the door that lead to the dealer flood that lead to the death of the delica.ca MEMBER classifieds. Just like in slaughterhouse5 it has all happened before and it will all happen again.

Mardy's post is a perfect example of a useless golden anus dealer post...posting nothing of actual help but dropping the hook that he 'can' help if you call him. If Mardy knows the part numbers that the original poster asked for and actually wants to be helpful over just making a sale then at least post the info alongside with your hook. Since he did not post any useful info and he is just fishing for sales it should be removed.

Not sure why Mardy cannot just private message people if he is intent on whoring himself at every opportunity. That pretty much became the etiquette in like 2010 yet he is such an automaton he still keeps posting 'pls call me' like a dog who just can't stop licking his balls. Woof woof learn a new trick!

Well this really went off topic. hahaha.......umm since I originally posted No dealer has sent me a PM trying to help me out which is kinda what I wanted so instead I emailed a couple of dealers, I got one response which was still more then I wanted to spend but it was quick so I appreciated that. But I dunno if people read where I am from but I am not about to call long distance to BC for shocks without shooting an email first. I like most Winnipeggers am cheap.

So I started calling parts places and gave them the number I originally posted and partsource wouldn't even look it up without a vehicle make and model. I called a performance shop here that specializes in aftermarket shocks and the Procomp number I posted and it was $80 but it would be a special order and wouldn't get here for 3 weeks. So I decided that there has to be more replacements and went looking on the uk deli site and low and behold there was a whole bunch I could use and called back to the shop and for $69 per shock with pick up probably today, now that is much more affordable.

If a shop tells you they can't look it up without vehicle make and model, just rattle off a name and tell them it has modified suspension. This way they don't know they're dealing with a rhd (which they might not like) and now forces them to look by either part number or size.

I'm sorry, Psilosin ~ Although we don't want ad threads or people spamming threads with unrelated issues, If someone is needing a part and a dealer chimes in that they have that part ~ I really don't see the problem. One time a member put it out to the forum that he needed a part and a supplier PM'ed him that they had that part and the details that went with it and that member went on to create an "anti spamming" thread.

So, back to shocks?

OK, so if you're ditching the ECS system there's something extra you'll need to do. Disconnecting the wiring from the actuators will make the 'Sport' light on the instrument cluster flash in a very annoying manner. Either keep the actuators attached and tape them up and cable-tie them safely out of the way (in which case they'll be there if a future owner ever wants to re-instate the system), or pull the bulb out of the cluster.
Incidentally, the tops of the rear shocks are accessed through small panels in the floor, one each side. The bolts securing them often break due to being seized.
