If I remember correctly, the probe in the blanking plate will only measure the temperature of cylinder #3 whereas a probe post turbo will measure the temperature of all 4.  Depending on how people are feeling at a certain time of year the consensus seems to differ on which is better.  If you want to be really safe you could install in both positions I suppose.
