Hi i have a 92 exceed turbo diesel 5 speed
When the engine is cold it doesnt like to go into gear smoothly. It is only when going into first and second gear usually. Once ive been driving for a while 10min or more it seems fine.
I am just wondering what this could be and what would i need to do to fix it.
Thanks
When engine is cold hard to change 1st and second gear

First try changing the oil, as the oil gets old it loses its slippery ness which makes the syncros not work well, thus make it hard to shift. Also you can inspect the oil for color, smell, and metal debris.

Re: When engine is cold hard to change 1st and second gear
Mitsi FI goes into 1st easily when cold, but the change to 2nd is stiiff and awkward.
I have found that double declutching makes it easier.
My gearbox oil is virtually new as well.

The type of gear oil used is critical, the aussies have talked allot about what works best. Do a search on the Australian pajero forum.
