Re: To glow or not to glow.

A further note... as far as I recall... relays "switch" power, not "provide" it... sorry Green1, had to throw that in there... light hearted comment. I work in an environment where power to any component is often considered to be "provided" by the component ahead of it in the circuit, and wh...

Re: Front emblem removal

I'm a little confused, on my L300 I was pretty sure it was inlaid in the whole plastic strip (or "grill") that ran from headlight to headlight, not something that could be removed short of removing that whole "grill" (or do I not recall my L300 well enough??)

Re: Toyota HZJ79R

Proof stating that you can't register THAT vehicle on the road.... so, what do you have to do so that it is no longer THAT vehicle? This has actually been debated before for other reasons... what makes a specific car a car vs parts? and it is a tough one to define. but basically there is a problem ...

Re: To glow or not to glow.

I have more than my share of electrical knowledge, however my understanding of this particular circuit is that it is simply relay controlled, the controller doesn't come in to the equation because the relays provide the power. I can see why an incorrect impedance would cause the system not to work, ...

As the general consensus appears to be that I do not know what I'm talking about, and cause more harm than good, I am removing this post so that others are not tricked in to following my ill-advised instructions.

Re: Toyota HZJ79R

here are some pictures... any info anyone could get me on any possible way of picking one of these up would make them my hero. Are these still sitting down there in the impound or have they been destroyed or were they returned to port of origin? As that post was over a year ago, I suspect by now th...

Re: To glow or not to glow.

what about the new plugs could possibly cause there to be no power feeding them? Impedance. That still doesn't make sense, if they were too high impedance, they would act as an open and there would be power on the bus-bar, but the plugs would simply not provide enough heat. if the impedance were to...

Re: EASY Wet Foot Fix

Argg. I have left sunny dry Calgary for the coast. It has been raining almost everyday and my previously dry floor is now soaked. Christine showed me the location at the top of the front window where the rain gutter meets the windows. We noticed several hairline cracks on both sides and a tiny bit ...

Re: Thanks for all your help so far, but wait there's more!

-i have changed a number of timing belts on vehicles with low km and have yet to find a single one stretched or cracked or otherwise compromised. i made the decision years ago that this is a dealer money maker and stopped doing it. Considering your prices are the highest of any dealer out there, I ...

Re: To glow or not to glow.

Tested with a light before putting the old plugs back: no juice in pre/start mode, but there once starter engaged and after while the engine warmed. Old plugs remedied the situation. Hrmmm... I'm not questioning that this is what happened... I'm just not quite sure of WHY that would happen... what ...

Re: Kareokee

The "kareoke stereo" is in fact not a stereo at all, it is simply a glorified remote control for the factory unit. it does nothing at all in and of itself, simply passes controls, inputs, and outputs to the main head unit. Without the main factory unit it is useless. Now I won't say that you couldn'...

Re: New member in Ontario - looking for Delicas in Ontario

even if the dealer does all the maintainence issues can show up on the road. My point exactly. Everything we do in life entails risks, you could kill your engine on a drive down the street to the store, on a long vacation far from home, or yes, on your first trip home. If the dealer did the appropr...

Re: To glow or not to glow.

I like green1's idea of swapping in your old ones. If you can check & compare the voltage that would be good. not my suggestion, it certainly isn't the first step I'd take... I'd check to see if power is getting to them first, swapping in the old ones doesn't do any good if there's no voltage at th...

Re: New member in Ontario - looking for Delicas in Ontario

Yes Crushers, i did have a head crack on the Coquihalla, this is why I ALSO recommend in my other posts to check certain parts of the vehicle before doing a long drive home like that. If you buy from a reputable dealer they will do all that maintenance for you before you start your drive. Maintenanc...
