Hello All
Just curious as to how many kilometers these engines are good for before any major failures or overhauls. Please post your mileage and thoughts. Lets start at 200,000 km and above.
Thanks

Re: CV Boot Rubbing on Lower Control Arm
I think I found the problem. The wheel side boot protector sleeve might not be seated correctly on the CV joint. I think that it has to be pushed in, away from the wheel which would give it just enough clearance. Would someone be so kind to take a picture of their CV boot/protector sleeve and post i...

Re: CV Boot Rubbing on Lower Control Arm
The lower ball joint was one of my original suspects. It "appears" to be seated correctly, threads protruding and cotter pin hole lined up. I did take the pin out to graunch another flat to line up with the hole, it was tight. Here is a close up pic:

Re: CV Boot Rubbing on Lower Control Arm
The new boot is slightly longer but the outer diameter is still the same.

Re: Tis' The Season - Hard Starting
New glow plugs installed and fired up nice and quick at 0C. Looks like one bad plug and light corrosion can cause issues.

CV Boot Rubbing on Lower Control Arm
Hello All It all started with both inner boots torn. I sourced all four boots, pulled the axles, installed the boots, and reinstalled the axles. Now the outer boot protector sleeve is rubbing the lower control arm on both sides. I did notice that there was very little clearance before I got started ...

Re: EGT level at 120kph
Here's my EGT at 100 km/h.
Approximately 800 degrees F at 2300 rpm on a flat run. 2" lift with 31" mud (not all-terrain) tires. Pre-turbo (EGR blanking plate) installation. 9psi boost. Coolant temp is a little on the cool side. After changing the thermostat I will post back.

Re: Tis' The Season - Hard Starting
Thanks for the input Phil. I'm pretty sure when the new plugs are installed that she will light off pretty quick.
Off topic, do you have any pics of your van on the site? If so whats the thread?
Would be nice to have an Ontario Delica meet someday. If you are ever in the K-W area, give me a shout!

Re: Tis' The Season - Hard Starting
Thanks for the reply Big-Bird That's exactly what I did before putting them back in, cleaned the bus bar and power lead with scotchbright. I have the injectors on my to do list, I want to see how she starts with the new plugs first. It did start a little easier this morning, probably due to the bus ...

Tis' The Season - Hard Starting
Hello All 1996 L300 Active World Dual Battery both new (Cold Weather Package) I have read almost all threads relating to glow plugs and hard starting. Re: Future Starwagon Owner
Hello fellow Delica fans, I finally got my Delica last week and have had a huge smile on my face every time I drive, look, or talk about her. It's such a fun and unique vehicle to drive. It's definitely not a racing machine and I have the essentials installed such as an EGT gauge, boost gauge, and a...

Re: Future Starwagon Owner
Based on a quick google search I assume you are referring to the Wankel engine or helicopter pilot. No to both. The name actually comes from Seinfeld. An Ontario meet would be great if someone could organize it. If you are ever in the K-W area, please feel free to contact me.

**Update** My Deli is now a landed immigrant!!! It arrived by boat in BC and is currently on a train to Ontario. I get to meet her for the first time this coming Tuesday (day after Labour Day). Hopefully if everything goes alright I should have her home by next weekend as a registered Canadian citi...

Re: Newbie from California
Hello sjsd and welcome to Delica.ca, eh!! I am currently in the process of importing a 1996 Starwagon (L300) through Bonsai Rides. Hoping to get it in early September. Craig from Bonsai has been great to deal with and I believe he does imports to the States. Check out my thread with pics of my Starw...
