We eventually decided to take it back to Sabir at Maxoverdrive. I have to respect that he was honorable enough to take it back - even after a couple of days. There were just too many issues that appeared; leaky seals, really loud 4WD, poor diesel mileage, black smoke on startup. then the battery die...

Just drove the new Delica home to Bamfield on the logging road. Everything looks and runs great (except for a whine at speeds >50km while in 4H). The dash, doors and steering wheel rattled excessively on the logging road. Is this normal?

Man, it's nothing but logging roads here. You can take the logging roads from Victoria around Lake Cowichan, into Bamfield, down to Port Renfrew, Up the Juan de Fuca Ridge and into some fabulous backcountry.
