Re: Delica Dealer / Importer Ratings and Feedback
I will inform you what as the deal with the isuzu elf warranty issue. We can not issue warranty on commercial vehicles with global warranty. so to satisfy the buyer , i issued my own warranty on engine only. i specified there is no other warranty except the motor for 90 days. he claimed after 2 months that his starter failed and he repaired it in a local shop for $1400. starter is an electrical issue (he should know that) and it should not be covered with the same motor warranty we issued him for 90 days. besides, we told the buyer again and again that if there is any issue with the vehicle, he needs to contact us, instead of contacting us, he spend the money (to repair starter for $1400 seemed ridiculous) and expect us to pay cash. I simply told him that it is not covered. he got furious and told me that he will take me to court, I welcomed his thoughts. if the buyer is participating in this forum, we urge him to post the warranty letter issued, so that everyone can read what is in there.

"Must buy before posting" policy
I've been shopping for a Pajero for some time now and I'm having interesting experiences (positive, neutral and negative) at different dealers in Vancouver and on the Island. While I haven't purchased yet, I believe that some of the information and experience I've accumulated would serve Delica and Pajero buyers/owners, despite the fact that I have yet to close a deal. I think I can speak objectively about the shopping, test-driving, sales style/policy experience up to, but not including the actual purchase. I think many of us have had valid experiences (positive and negative) that didn't include a vehicle purchase, but would still benefit our members and guests who wish to buy or service their vehicles.
I won't attempt to post any of my opinions about dealers at this point, but I wanted to open up some discussion around the "buy before posting" policy.
Respectfully,
Mark

Re: Delica Dealer / Importer Ratings and Feedback
Well I've had me bus for about 5 months now. And I feel its time to post here. Please note, I'm posting on behalf of myself and my wife, so when I say we, take note that I don't have split personality disorder.
1. Dealer: V.I.B.
2. Overall experience: They were ruthless, but my wife tells me I'm naive, it was my first 'negotiation' in buying a used vehicle, so we can ignore that one. There was a test drive, a thorough look over, and lots of talk. And lots of talk..... There were several grey areas where we had to poke and prod and get answers. In the end the signing was mutual, and we were not feeling 'ripped off'. Warranty was 6 months or 5000km, on engine only.
3. Problems Since: Front Tie rod ends. Block heater install. Rubber boots on some kind of front end rod. Thermostat. Front wheel bearings. Rear heat has stopped working (relay problem, not dealer related). All the previously mentioned items are things which were minor, and repairs that were somewhat anticipated upon purchase, the following is the straw that broke the back....
Timing belt bearing/pulley desintigrated and the timing belt jumped a tooth. Luckily I was the 1st of 100's the mechanic has seen where no damage was done other than a new bearing and new balancing rod. VIB put a shiny new belt in, and ignored the 3 decayed bearings.
4. All in all, I would not recommend VIB to anyone. In fact, I would recommend staying away from them.
The only positive note I can add is they gave me a smokin' deal on some parts for some of the mentioned repairs. ($90 instead of $230 quoted by mechanic).
I suppose in the end, its on us, ya know, buyer beware. But I feel VIB did NOT do their due diligence when they imported this vehicle. If you are as mechanically inept as I am, be careful.

Re: Delica Dealer / Importer Ratings and Feedback
It has been a year and a half since I bought my Delica from Silk Road Autos, so I can conclude my previous posts providing some details.
silkroad wrote:
So, here is the list of the 'bogus' problems the dealer is blaming me for and some explanations:
1. Non-DOT tires.
2. Defective OD solenoid.
3. Burned out left side tailgate 'DELICA' bulb.
4. 1/2" gap between headlights and a front panel.
5. Leaking water pump.
6. Leaking exhaust manifold gasket.
7. Clogged radiator.
8. Malfunctioning thermostat.
9. Faulty master power lock switch.
10. Leaking injector #3.
11. 'home made' DRL module, see the picture below.
The dealer claimed that he was driving this vehicle for 7 month before I bought it and this statement was the major factor for me to make a choice. I thought that 7-month period was sufficient for identifying problems listed below. Recently the dealer repeated his statement and that is why I want to disclose the list of problems that came with the vehicle. The list is not complete but gives you an idea of the original shape of my Delica.
Problem #9 was the only one reported to me and it was quite obvious when the door locks were going on and off while driving. I bought this vehicle in January and finished most of the repairs by the middle of August 2008.
1 - I installed new DOT tires later; still have 1 original left as a spare.
2 - defective OD solenoid was causing the transmission not responding to the OD OFF switch; not a big job replacing it but the problem was not identified by the dealer; instead I was advised that I was driving on 3rd gear while trying OD OFF. Diagnosed by myself with great help of Mystery Machine and replaced by RJD Services.
3 - replacing the bulb would not be a hell of a job but the dealer said that this was not an option: the whole tailgate light panel must be replaced. I replaced the burned bulb myself.
4 - this could not be ignored because at a speed over 70 km/h there was terrible loud wobbling noise; fixed myself.
5 - found and replaced in CVI
6,7 and 8 - identified and replaced in CCAutos. The cooling system were working poorly: the engine was operating below the normal temperature until climbing for several minutes when it was overheating.
9 - replacing the faulty lock switch did not require any mechanical skills; they just could not figure it out; fixed myself.
10 - found and fixed in CCAutos.
11 - caused the turn lights to stop working 70 km away from home. Removed and professionally replaced with the factory made DRL in CVI. Below is the picture of this 'DRL' thingy; you can guess in which way it was wired.
I did not expect the used vehicle to be free of problems but I was badly surprised with the dealer being mad on me because of my discoveries. I provide computer services and I cannot afford barking back on my customers no matter what.
This is my personal experience with Silk Road Autos as of the beginning of last year (2008) and I hope they are making things better now.
This is my last and final contribution to this thread and I am not willing to discuss this post as I am providing the true facts only.

Wow! that's impressive, especially the lack of info regarding what was wrong...hmmm.
That's just a taped up relay (5$ part) which, when connected properly is no worse than a DRL module really, the only issue with yours is it looks like absolutely nothing was soldered whatsoever. Tape also makes everything look like a bloody hack job, heat shrink tubing is where it's at.

Re: Delica Dealer / Importer Ratings and Feedback
Wow is right. I would have to say that most vans that are purchased for under $10,000 could easliy have problems 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and maybe 10 depending on the obviousness of the leak. Non DOT tires not cool, but come on the gap on the headlights and the delica rear lights not lighting up give me a break.
You clearly don't like Karim and Silk Road Autos WE ALLLLLLLLL GET IT!!! You have every right to post whatever you want, but don't make more out something than is really there. Of your list there are maybe 3 things that are of real concern, the others are just there to make Karim look bad and to get back at him for pissing you off. Hopefully most people realize this is the internet and not to take things as being 100% true.
I can't wait to see what comes up next on this topic...unreal.

I think he has every right to complain and provide whatever detail he wishes. It's up to us to sift through it and determine what matters. I think the nature of this site is to be too cautious about criticism and complaint. There are people on this site who have consistently provided poor service, wrong information and worse by taking advantage of people's lack of knowledge and trust, yet little is said and they carry on. I'm not suggesting we get nasty, but we should support people in reporting their experiences good and bad.

Yes, I should and haven't in the past but will in the future. Like the majority I kept my comments to myself in keeping with the tone of the site, but feel that is a disservice.
Edit. I should clarify that I believe the list of serial offenders to be few - that most folks are sincere and aim to serve us well.

Re: Delica Dealer / Importer Ratings and Feedback
Well I for one fully appreciate the tone of this forum, it is far and away the best technical/interest web community I have come across and kudos to the people that are "cautious about criticism and complaint". When misinformation comes up, it is always corrected, but with a civil tone and with an attitude of being constructive and getting at the truth without slinging mud.
The really knowledgeable and helpful people here are not pushovers that let things slide for the sake of politeness. Where else do you see the kind of intelligent discussion, that follows even the most dubious claims of a miracle device, or an unbelievable bargain from a retailer. It all gets treated with a logical approach and a positive attitude, and I hope it never degenerates to the kind of tit-for-tat that's going on here.
I also had a somewhat negative experience with my dealer, I made my concerns known but the tone of the discussions here encouraged me to see both sides and *not* exaggerate and get super personal, just let others make up their mind based on the facts. And in the end I saw the dealer's perspective and how hard it is to be in a cutthroat business and not be able to guarantee the perfection of every vehicle and every dealing, and staying worked up about it and wanting revenge was just a waste of my time and energy and a denial of my own responsibility to be an intelligent buyer.
The simple fact that some dealers are on this site and participating in the community, defending themselves and not having the luxury of being anonymous, and continue to work hard to resolve the issues.... makes them so much more than the fly-by-night outfits that some people want to make them look like out of spite. I hope they don't get discouraged by the negativity here and stay engaged, because they wouldn't bother if they were really the evil uncaring types that is being implied here. That's my .02

Re: Delica Dealer / Importer Ratings and Feedback
How did I miss all these discussions about Silk Road Autos. Obviously I am a little late. However, I couldn't resist to respond to this guy who has for the past year been doing nothing but complaining. Silk Road is, in my opinion and according to my personal exprience, THE best dealership I have ever dealt with and, believe me I have bought quite a few used cars over the years. Those people are rediculously honest and I cannot believe a word of what you have written here. It is quite impossible that they would have mislead you the way you have described and it and, it is time for others to tell you to shut up and leave these people alone. I admire Mark for responding to your post and I hope there are others. Go through this guy's posts and you would see nothing but a compaign to bad mouth Silk Road. In one of your posts, you noted having spent $6000 on your delica, could you not have purchased another delica with that. You obviously have something against this dealership and are using this public forum to be a pain. They have sold more delicas than probably most of the other dealers combined and if all of their buyers would get on this forum, the story would be different. But, for now they have to deal with a couple of noisy guys and you in particular are nasty, ineed. I checked your posts and I see that you were initially leaving positive remarks so if these issues existed when you purchased the delica, then why were you happy with them earlier on. There is no way in hell that they would have not declared any of these problems to you.

Re: Delica Dealer / Importer Ratings and Feedback
Are you really done with Silk Road? You haven't been even close to being done with us for the last year. Your problems never end and the delica you bought was a junk. We will never ever ignore our customers but will never ever assist you if you threaten with negative remarks by using this might forum. Here is what was wrong with your delica:
1. Locks - you were told about it and we did fix that for you
2. Bulb- one of the bulbs at the rear tailgate was burnt and you were told about
That is all the problems you had when you were taking the delica. A week or so after you took the delica, you brought it with seizing caliper and it was replaced free of charge. You did call me about having issue with over-ride and I asked you to bring it in and we will check it for you. However, I did mention to you to make sure you are in third gear when pressing the button. I don't agree with the rest of the things you have indicated and I think it is time for you to find another web forum to post to. Plus, I asked that you support your claim of having spent $6000 on your vehicle with receipt but you didn't post those. The problems you have noted cannot add up to $6000.
And for those who here sympathies with you and cheers you on, they need to know that contrary to what they believe dealers do not really like having unsatisfied customers regardless of whether they would complain on a forum like this or call repeatedly. But, are they able to be 100% successful in fully satisfying all customers, the answer is no. Every now and then we come across someone like Profitser. Plus no dealer anywhere will guarantee that something will never go wrong with your car and I certainly have never implied that. What I do guarantee is that we will always assist you if something does go wrong and I guarantee that if we are aware of any existing issue, you will be told. It is impossible to sustain a business based on falsehood and deception. It only can go on for so much. I sincerely thank some of the users who have come to our defense and I am disappointed that some users who have never dealt with us have expressed negative opinions about us. All of our cars go through a complete service including timing belt, breaks, fluid and filters change. Repair any issues we find or foresee. Each buyer is given the option of taking any of vehicles to any mechanic they choose. We are here to stay and have established a base that is only getting wider by the day and it is all because of people like you - delica and other JDM users. We cannot afford to be not nice to you guys or be dishonest with you guys. Beside very few people can tolerate going to work every day planning deception and dishonesty.
Ironically we sold all of those delicas that I advertised here before I even became aware of this thread and most to either friends or relatives of previous buyers of ours.
uote="Profister"]It has been a year and a half since I bought my Delica from Silk Road Autos, so I can conclude my previous posts providing some details.

It is always a pleasure dealing with a decent and polite dealer who is going after customers in case of a negative feedback. Recently this dealer also made a few false statements regarding me in another thread http://www.delica.ca/forum/experiences- ... -5152.html but I can excuse either his bad memory or bad conscience.I only had issues with this profitser guy who continues to list bogus problem he is having with his delica and it's all our fault.

Re: Delica Dealer / Importer Ratings and Feedback
Mardy at Amazing Auto Imports. 10 out of 10
We just picked up our Van over the weekend from Mardy. I was blown away by the condition of the Delica
Our van is in great shape for being 15yrs old! Mardy put in a ton of time to make it right. New parts, new fluids. feels like a new Van. We drove back to Calgary with no issues what so ever. Everything worked perfectly. Love the Deli!
It was a pleasure,
Thank you Mardy!
