Here are some pictures.

I was writing down the VIN number and other information when I heard hissing behind me. The Radiator expansion tank was bubbling along the seam of the tank. It couldn’t have been going on for very long as I was poking around the engine a couple days ago. The tank was a bit low. I’ve heard these tanks weaken over time.

After checking how much a replacement was on line ($150-200)I decided to try to patch it up until I could find a reasonably priced tank (the search goes on but may be close).

I patched it up, painted it up more for fun than anything else, as the tank has changed colour over time to a nasty yellow brown, and the patching colour didn’t match. I’d seen on the site that someone had an aluminum tank fabricated and lucky for me I had some paint lying around so I made my own.

Total repair cost $9.99 plus paint.

Thanks Rick,

Yes, it's a Frantz by-pass oil filter. I think it's been a great investment, easy install and easy replacement.

Fishtank, nice work.
Are you able to provide info on model #'s, sources etc on both the Frantz by-pass filter and the oil catch can?.

I had this huffing sound coming from the engine area that I would always hear when the engine was running and I was by the driver's side. After a while it was sounding like rattling tin and I began to think that maybe I hadn't tightened a heat shield enough the last time I had the manifolds off. So I was running the engine, waiting for DeliCat, when it was quite loud and annoying so I crawled under the MLB to see if I could identify where it was coming from ~ and ~ lo and behold, there it was, right before my eyes!... The one way valve on the air filter tray was torn and flapping away, slapping on the tray. In short, I replaced it with a new one that I got from Maximum Over Drive. Thanks Sabir!

Falco.

When it became apparent that the 22 year old front and sliding door steps would not survive another wet Vancouver winter without rusting to S#&$ I pulled em' off, SOS padded as much rust off as I could, primed with a rust converter spray paint and then coated them graciously in black truck bed liner. Plastic steps back on, steps bolted back in and voila!

I'm betting after two more winters I'll throw in the towel and do the same to the bull bars and the side view mirror arms as it's hard to stop the rust. You can always just paint over with truck bed liner each summer once you start I figure.

FYI - whenever you are undoing any bolt on the Delica for steps, bull bar, or the plastic bull bar cover, lube it up big time with WD40 a couple days before and prepare yourself for some of the bolts to break when you pull them out as the threads are rusted/stuck shut.

I lost a bolt on one of my side steps. Go very, very, very slow and you should be able to get them out if you ever attempt to take them off. If you rusk you are risking a break so not worth it. Luckily there were three solid bolts so I just threw my step back on and didn't bother with trying to drill out.

I took SvR in for it's usual oil change and had the (kinda) new shock mounts checked for tightness and had the front end lubed. On suggestion I had the tires rotated (it was time).
Low and behold - The right front wheel, a stripped lug bolt and a broken one. At least I got 4 others to hold the wheel on temporarily.

Good thing this was found before we went on our camping trip in a few weeks.

I took a couple weeks off while my wife was expecting our first baby so had some time to do a few projects.

I took off the parking pole, dicovered it was full of rainwater (it had no top and was not a light up parking pole) Anyone wants one let me know, cheap.
The chrome underneath is so nice.

My replacement bull bar decal arrived, found one on ebay. letters not exactly lining up but better than just having an "M" as the only letter left on it.

Undercoated the car, painting all the skid plates, painted gas tank silver, and exhaust system burnt copper, painted the calipars burnt copper as well, and used the rubbery rock chip stuff in the wheel wells.

Old battery died so instaleld a new one and got my replacement for the leaking Radiator tank, painted and installed that. (I didn't like the ugly yellow the replacement came in)

I think that's it.

Now that I think of it that wasn't all I eneded up doing.
Replained the back faded step and the back parking mirror.
Painted the grill cage thing behind the foglights and the lover wings which were faded grey as well.

I also took out the old TV which was clipped on to the passanger dash handlybar. If anyone wants the panasonic TV with remote and japanese manual let me know. As far as I know it was working but never picked up any channels, it was just something tempting for someone to break in for.

And a few mitsubishi diamond decals and otehr decorations on the roof rack.

I think all Delicas should have painted callipers. Nice detail job, Beausoleil.

Thanks!
I was unsure of which colour to go with. It really isn't as bright as it looks in the photo and goes with the silver and black of the delica itself. The job was easier than the undercoating. I put on two or three coats on each and used some tissue to block out the black pad part although painting it wouldn't cause any harm, which is good because I accidently painted the first one I did.

I painted mine orange as it compliments the green pearl in the clear coat on the body. Like you, I masked everything else off, in my case with old news paper, a bit of hi-temp and presto! I think the copper works in those pictures. It's a subtlety that some people might notice but you will know it's there and that's what counts.

Looks great. Is that heat proof paint? Not sure if it needs to be???? Your work is especially nice cuz it's a gasser.

took tessen back to CCA for some warranty work after the last CVI meet.
all new belts, balancer belt seal/bearing, exhaust manifold work. wow. :?
then lots of black smoke, leaking seals, and loss of power lead to a complete IP reconditioning.
was expensive, but wow, she runs like new now, with warranty. :-D
cruising speed went from 90kph to around 105kph. fuel economy improved at a bonus!
I guess reconditioning a 22 year old IP is really worth it. :-D
Roads!? Who the hell needs roads!?,

Canadian tire had a great selection of breakdrum/callipar paint so yes it is high heat.
The undercoating is gloss tremclad, just personal preference over the mat that is usually used.

I used CREGAN's paint type for the back step. So thanks for the tip on that.
